I watched Warcraft with the missus last night. Whether it was because of the late showing, or that the film had only just been released, but the cinema screen was half empty. I'd normally expect it to be packed out.
I've only ever played WoW (and got to about level 7 before I gave up) so can't really say much other than the elements it adapts, it does well. But the plot is a bit rubbish, as is the dialogue (some cliches thrown in) which brings down the quality IMO. I think better writing and dialogue would have lifted this film a lot, especially since some of it was predictable.
It was enjoyable enough and there were scenes that kept me interested. I certainly enjoyed it more than MoS. 3/5.

X-Men: Apocalypse - Bordering on Man of Steel dull. To hide the fact they were (re)introducing a bunch of characters they've decided to make an 'epic', which is to say there's no plot at all.
At best this is a bridge film to set up the young X-Men all over again, and it even failed at that they're such cyphers. That's really not good considering three quarters of the film is about forming teams!
It also has scenes so dumb they belong in Indy Jones 4, including one right at the start. The reviewers who gave this 3/5 etc were being very kind indeed.

It's so sweet that you're all still giving the super hero / films made from games thing a go

You do realise that superhero films - in one guise or another - have actually been around for almost 100 years, right? It's not a passing fad. (8+) Mark

Never said it was Casey. Huge amounts of cash are thrown at these 'blockbuster' films and all I hear is how rubbish they are.

Anything from Marvel is usually good to great. Fox is patchy in the main and DC may pick up after a woeful start to dive once a certain director's back.

What's wrong with that? It's a much better hit rate than the average film! I go to the cinema far more than most, and the superhero films are better overall across most genres. It's worth remembering too these are shows that have to incorporate EVERYTHING.

You can bang on about them all you like but it won't change my opinion of them. There are loads of great films out there that don't contain any CGI. We have different tastes. That's not a bad thing.

You've no idea how much great TV and film you've missed out on! I hate CGI when it's overblown or just badly done, but the superhero films are way past that in the main. I too watch different genres (Big Daddy, Triple 9, Midnight Special just in the last few months) but that doesn't mean I shouldn't watch the supes.

Agent Carter and Supergirl just for TV, the Captain America films started off like an Indiana Jones movie and became thrillers, Guardians of the Galaxy is a comedy as is Ant Man, actually the original Iron Man is too mostly... CGI is what enables these shows but they couldn't keep making them without it having a story. These aren't kids films by any means. Christ, how did I forget Deadpool? That's the best comedy since the 80's! Try Jessica Jones on Netflix for a dark thriller series. If you want more of an action thriller, Daredevil. Nobody is flying around in capes

Ghostbusters (1984) - Still stands up as as one of the best comedies, but it feels a bit weird in places these days. People smoking like chimneys and some curious lines and scenes (how this is now rated a PG I have no idea), but I realised I remembered damn near every word and how it was delivered! I must have watched this film even more than I thought as a kid

I remember Ray getting a blowjob from a ghost. When I was a kid, I had no idea what was going on nor why Ray went cross-eyed.
