http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=249242Isn't that kinda what Panasonic, Phillips etc are often accused of when it comes to the supplying of their kit? Does it make any difference that Nintendo claim not to have a 'suggested retail price'? Also, is the DSI not doing as well as expected any more? The Wii sales dropped apparently, so it got a cut...

It could be a massive stock clearance by the retailers. They may not want to get left with stock when the others have cleared their stock. So they are simply price matching rather than being involved in a cartel.

That is probably what the manufacturer thought was the new agreed price. The retailers took the decision to clear the stock. A ten pound difference looks good for customers.

You're still coming back to 'agreed' though, which is what's bothering me...

Well if the manufacturer says this is the new recommended price, the company might think that they have agreed this with the retailers. In reality they want to sell stock and not have any left over and definitely not get lumbered with stock that they have to deeply discount at the end. As to who "agreed" and what they agreed to is debatable. Sometimes the price might get to a level where people do not want to be undercut. Look at Amazon who insist they they have lower prices even than the sellers own site. That is more innocuous price fixing than a number of retailers copying everyone else.

You want a cartel look at samsung tvs and dsgi/comet
same tv, ever so slightly different product code so they can be £100 or so different in price

Yes but they have different code numbers so if they have a price guarantee promise they can never be undercut because they are the sole sellers of that product number. Scam but legal.
