It's just what analog, awstats & webalizer are reporting. Not sure how it's defined.

It doesn't seem that unreasonable for the first busy week. 200 users, one page every 10 seconds for 2 hours each per day = 1 million pages served per week.

Lets not forget a hit is not a page view. Hits are coming off the web stats packages but because they represent elements of a page and will differ each time a page is called depending on your and your ISP's caching arrangements they are a headline number and nothing more. The stats that are generally taken notice of on web sites are Visits ( number of times people visit a site not unique ) / visitors ( unique based on IP ) / page views ( pages successfully delivered ). However this is difficult when you look at a forum as each thread becomes and issue and each post also gets in the way. So I think the best we can do is look at views of threads. Up until about 3pm today there have been 60,667 views of threads since we started. Which is a hell of allot approaching 4,400 per day .

Thanks guys, especially Alun for a great breakdown of why the 1 million hits per week is plausible.

You could stick Google Analytics on the site, which would give you more useable statistics.

What confuses me is how do you build up your level to the point that you get a visit from the dancing girls?

The next issue of PcPro has landed here today and well I thought an article by "Simon Brock who's company Wide Area Communication's is the company behind many of Dennis publishings websites". was of interest to everybody. Guess what it was about how to manage single sign on across multiple web sites What the &*%$ does that eediot know about that topic? given the evidence we have on the Dennis publishing web sites for how not to do it. </rant> Walks off muttering darkly
