Time for some "Ready, Steady, Cook" style cooking. What can you make with 15 cans of lager, a stocked spirit cupboard (no mixers but XO brandy, single malt, Bombay sapphire & polish vodka), frozen veg, frozen chips, chopped tomatoes, a fully stocked spice & dried herb selection, frozen burgers (chilli & normal), some onions, garlic, ginger & spme ice cubes? (I left out the frozen bloodworm as the fish like that). | | | | |
That sounds like a great night out in the comfort of your own home Just don't drink too much before attempting the cooking

I've now found waffles, mince, prawns & cooked, dices turkey (for Christmas).
May look for pasta before settling for chili burger & chips (with tomato, pepperoni topping from last night dinner). I really can't believe my 19 month old ate all the pasta we had left from last night (over an adults portion that was left)

If you have any flour, then making pasta is pretty easy - especially if you do a lasagne type thing with it. Also, flat bread like flour tortilla are easy to make. Together with burger, tomato, onion and spices you can make something tasty. Have it with chips and beer, you'll be fine!
Or you could mash the burgers with ginger and garlic to make Chinese meat dumplings. Serve with steamed veg and soy sauce.
If you don't have flour, then just cook burger and chips. Ketchup and beer are vegetable. You do have ketchup, I hope?!

Lettuce, tomato and tuna mayo for lunch, light but surprisingly tasty and satisfying. Recession lunches FTW!

Had one of the most tasty meals in ages last night. Toulouse sausage with braised red cabbage left over from Sunday and sauté potatoes.

Ooooo yummy. Do you put apple in with red cabbage? That's a very Belgian dish that Mummy used to make me when I was ickle Chicken pie - all home made. Some of you have seen this on bookface.

Yeah, from my most used cookbook, "Delia Smith's Complete Cookery Course", recipe here. Actually tasted a lot better reheated than it did the first time. Only problem is, it makes a ridiculous amount, it completely filled a large casserole dish. Had it on Sunday, Monday and last night and still got about half left! I would freeze the rest, but got no freezer space left.

Shudders - sorry red cabbage is a total anathema to me.

When my mum made it recently there was a lot too. Freeze in portions and you'll enjoy it at a later date. A whatty what?

Red cabbage on its own is awful, but cooked with fruit and fruit juice is awesome, especially after it has sat for a couple of days.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
