Let me just back myself up here.

I honestly didn't know what section it was in. Usually I'm too lazy to look, and just click on "View new posts".

So yeah, sorry if I offended anyone, I really didn't mean to, it was genuinly light-hearted.

Just remember - you might get similar questions or topics in the Meeting Place too.

Is that supposed to be an insult? As if I troll around in the Meeting Place all day?

For your information, if there were any real questions that needed to be answered I'd answer them. Ofcorse if they were PC related questions.

But there isn't. So I don't. :)

I’d suggest you pay more attention to where posts are going then.

paul, your MessagePad avatar is looking a little on the square side of things. I thought it was a new old piece of Apple kit you'd dug up from somewhere. :)

I know. All my avatars are being forced into a square. I’ll have to redo the odd shaped ones.

Back on topic for a second, maxing out the ram, cheaply would be a good move as well as the extra drive. I picked up some PC133 512mb sticks for £2 a pop the other day for a friends old machine.

It would be nice to know where from, as I've just discovered the RAM for the dual machine has all been removed. (8+(

I went to the Crucial site and it appears that there's two different models of DP 1Ghz G4 PowerMac. One takes SDRAM and the other DDR.
How do I know which mine takes?

Mark

Does it not give you a clue in System Profiler? If you select the Memory section it should give you a pretty big hint in the Type column.

It should also say somewhere on the RAM itself what sort it is or at least give a clue as to its speed.

Problem is, with no RAM in the machine, how can he get to the System Profiler? ;)

Instead, take a trip here: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
Input the serial number and it'll spit out the result. Included in that is a link to another site with more info - for my machine it's http://www.apple-history.com/?page=gall ... =g4_mirror

HTH.
