If one were to restrict conversation to using quotes from one book, which book would you choose?

After all, what is the use of a book, without pictures or conversations?

I'd choose the dictionary, and only give choice definitions.

About an hour ago I was walking around town when I suddenly heard this woman yell "you son of a *****", looked around I see that the woman just yelled this at a young boy perhaps three or four. It looked like he retorted with something then his father said something along the lines of don't speak to your mother like that"...

It made me think a) Why is anyone subjecting such a young person to such language? and b)Who is stupid enough to throw a response at someone and simultaneously insult themselves?

Similar to the above - I was on the bus this morning when a women got on with a baby, she was clearly on drugs/excessive alcohol and was struggling to keep the baby in her arms. She came close to dropping it several times. She couldn't quite get the pram on the bus on in a safe positions either.

Her clothes were loose and her skirt was nearly around her knees because she didn't have a spare hand (or didn't care enough) to pull it up.

Some people pointed, some laughed, some stared; the lady across helped as did I. I'm not saying this to inflate my head, I'm saying it because it's another example of where someone might have done something that is wrong in your eyes, might be living life the wrong way, but it doesn't mean we should frown upon them and forget about them.

It certainly wasn't the baby's fault, and I don't know the mother's story. I imagine she's living minute to minute, hour to hour and needs all the help she can get just to make it through the day. Was she quite young?

Reminds me of something I heard once. I think it was Marge on The Simpsons*:

"I've always depended on the kindness of strangers."

*yes I know where it came from. That was a joke.

It was quite hard to judge her age in her current condition, I'd guess she was probably no older than early to mid twenties.

She certainly wasn't coping too well by herself.
