Anyone know where you can find out information like this for repairs/replacements etc...

I bought a pair of Vans shoes less than a year ago (maybe around 8 or 9 months ago) and today the sole has come away from the surround "skirt" of the sole (if that makes sense).

Image

The brown/beige under sole has separated from the white outside bit.

I only wear them at work and for walking around in (i.e. in town etc...) I don't do anything active in them (I have proper shoes for that).

Do shoes have a warranty? Do they have an expected life span?

Thanks for any help.

(I still have the box and receipt)

Take them back and try for a replacement pair

I had a pair of casual trainers from Next that I hardly used but on one trainer the seam split so I took them back. Admittedly after a lot of messing around (returning them to HQ etc) they agreed to replace them. Think they just got pissed off with me harassing them.

It's always worth a try......

i would absolutely take them back to the vans store as vans last ages (there the only shoes i buy simply because of there life span and wide feet sizes..)
i would just ask for a replacement or new pair of shoes as the sole should stay on for a good long time

You've become "delaminated" I'm afraid :D Usually we only see in sample production shoes, rather than the ones for general sale and you should confidently expect them to last over a year with light use. My suggestion would be to find a Vans customer service number and give them a call.

No shrinking violet, eh? You jolly well take them back, and be proud about it! Don't take no for an answer!

I'll do this first.

That's a good plan.

From what they say I'll take them back to the shop.

Thanks

Sounds like they were poorly made...

I have a pair of Wrangler boots, 1997

I have a pair of Loyds shoes, 1999

I have a pair of Borelli shoes, 2003

I have a pair of sandals, 2004
I have a pair of non-name casual shoes 2004

I have a pair of Nike trainers, 2007

The worst wearing shoes I have are the Camel Actives I bought last year, the heel has nearly worn down!

If a pair of shoes doesn't last me at least 2-3 years, I won't buy that brand again...

I could still wear my kswiss I bought from the US a year ago if I didn't have a newer pair to wear :) £20 or so for them

I find trainers last me a year because I wear them every day, same with jeans, the pair of Levis I got in the US have only just got a small hole near the crotch, that is pretty much a year of use which isn't bad (and repairable!)

If you have no joy taking them back buy some glue.

There's never any harm in trying to get them changed, no doubt that would be more likely via the manufacturer now though.

At my last job I wore trainers nearly every day and I guess a pair would last about 3 years.

If I get less than 2 years out of a pair of trousers I get annoyed.

I have awkwardly wide feet so if the shoe fits and it's cheap I generally buy them

I also don't take great care in my trainers, I use them for practically everything.

Saying that the ones I have a wearable, they are worn on the inside by the heel from having them loose but they are fine to wear still

I'm a 13, so when I actually do see trainers that'll fit I usually buy two pairs of 'em - I've also got the wide feet problem :(
