My issue just means that if I have both eyes open, my brain completely ignores the signal coming from my left eye, I too thought I would have a hard time with the 3-D-ness of things but so far, my brain has been able to use the 3-D part, without seeming to actually pay attention to the view from that eye. If I close my right eye, then I can see out of my left, but without doing that, I get nothing from my left eye.

Same. The old red/blue 3D glasses don't work, but I might give the polarised glasses thing a go... I wonder if the local cinema will let me in just for a minute, to test it before I buy a ticket? Hmmm... *ponders*

Sort of, if I'm tired then no, but as long as I'm not then again it's something that my brain filters in, it uses the left eye enough to gauge depth or distance, but ignores everything else, the same way that 3-D seems to work when it really shouldn't. Amazing what the brain can do eh?

No, there is a difference between your brain having a dominant eye (what I have) and having no depth perception. It is hard to eaplain to someone who hasn't had an eye test recently. Part of the test is... Put on a pair of glasses each lens polarised one vertically, one horizontally. There is a red, backlit cross on the opposite wall (a '+' sign about 20 cm square). The vertical lines of the cross are polarised horizontally and vice versa. When you close one eye at a time you will see the vertical lines and the horizontal lines (alternately). However, when both eyes are open there are very few people who will see both sets of lines. This is because your brain takes the image from the dominant eye and processes it almost leaving out the other eye. The image from the other eye is then used predominantly to calculate depth perception etc... Almost everyone has a dominant eye. Most people don't realise that they probably don't see the majority of what goes into the other eye.

I'm hoping to see this tomorrow (it's cheaparse tuesday so only £6 for the 3D viewing) but work is being difficult. I've not seen anything at the cinema for ages, and this sounds like my kind of thing so thanks for the thread!

I've worn specs since I was about 10yrs old. It's disingenuous to say you don't take in anything from that eye - if that were the case, then you'd simply be blind in one eye. It may not be dominant, but it's still feeding your brain information.

OK saw this last night with girlfriend and sister, we all really enjoyed it. I don't believe I cried in a Disney film , that's the last time I sit there and imagine if I was in that situation.
