That's retarded.

Signed.

I'm just going to cry racism if I get issued with a ticket and get found innocent. Let's see them make me pay for the court costs!

If they are bothered about the costs, then increase the court costs of those that lose. Make it £500 rather than £100. No need to penalise the innocent.

It's the fact that the councils keep losing and having to pay costs that's losing them money.

To hell with justice. Methinks this could be a tip of a very big iceberg seeing as the government have pissed all our money away.

Compensation should go beyond putting people 'back the position that would otherwise have been' - for Allah's sake these people have just spent x years in jail (wrongly) having a living nightmare and no doubt defending themselves from violence, drugs and sexual advances.

Just had an idea - if you have to pay your own costs for proving you're innocent, you should then file a compensation claim against the police force that wrongly issued the conviction :D

According to the Ministry of Justice, the age old principle of 'the loser pays' has been costing the government too much money.

Tell you what, how about not prosecuting so many people for motoring offences they're not guilty of then?

Jon

That was my first thought as well! :? Just how stupid is the government... Think I'll be walking next time I visit the UK!

I'm guessing there's no amount of money that'll help your state of mind once you've had your arse widened

Yes it does seem to be a matter of appearing to do something regardless of whether it is the right thing to do.
