Then I'm wrong about your stance and I apologise. I welcome a difference of opinion providing there is rational discussion/debate to come with it. "The BNP are racist assholes" seems to be about the level of opinion around here as demonstrated over the past couple months since the elections and in my view that's overly reactionary and simplistic. Of course, everybody else is entitled to that view should they so choose it, but I for one actually want to hear more from the BNP directly before making up my mind about them.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by the outpouring of hate here for the BNP. Is nobody actually genuinely interested to learn more about them? I don't agree with their racist policies, but I've never taken the time to hear about those policies from the party itself. Also, even if once I've done that, I still don't agree - does that mean they automatically have nothing else of value to say?

If you were that interested I would have thought you would have gone to their web site where they also publish their manifesto. I have. Aside from race, their policies have that kind of basic, obvious, utterly unthinking attitude that one would expect. So they have (had) an environmental policy that talked of ridding Britain of "all forms of pollution", I expect whoever came up with that phrase is their version of Oscar Wilde.

Aside from that, they are big on all the mundane side issues of the day - capital punishment, corporal punishment, speed cameras, Europe. The usual stuff you kind of expect from the reactionary right, allied to unclear economic policies and an array of unfunded promises to do what's right by various neglected heroes.

It's pure sugarcandy mountain stuff tbh. They do genuinely believe that with all the black faces removed, Britain will become some kind of worker's paradise, largely by racial magic, but with the help of a kind of self policing, 'common sense', fascist anarchy. I don't find it very sensible, and frankly if their opponents aren't able to make them look silly on Question Time, then they are imbeciles.

If you are hoping they have an added dimension beyond that, they are going to let you down. There are plenty of racists in the other parties, the only reason for anyone to join or support the BNP is if they are into the whole repatriation bit. Their other policies are all fairly trivial, and the BNP is in effect a single issue party.

Fair play, but I would quite like to see it 1st hand (at least through the TV). As for the website, I haven't looked at anybody else's either and don't intend to. Politics has been utter bollocks for a long time in this country (and a few others frankly) and I have no interest in the conventional system. The only reason this particular broadcast interests me, is because it represents the possibility of new debate. That doesn't mean to say there definitely will be, but I welcome any possibility of a break from the norm. Maybe that's too optimistic, I dunno.

Well the easiest way to neutralise nick griffin is george galloway, love or hate that man he can make even the most disguised misguided or racist opinion obviously invalid.

That would be a programme to watch.

I was thinking about this - and I would be interested to see how the BBC would police such an event - and even if the police would be on standby in a van close by, just in case. The BNP can cause heated emotions, and clearly there will be people ready to stir and be stirred.

Well, it seems to be confirmed.

I hope Jack Straw and the other mainstream politicians will take Griffin head on. 22nd October is the date.
