Does anyone else really not like the weekend?

I seem to spend more and more of them doing f*ck all. I don't really have any friends around Leeds and the remaining housemates (apart from the one who jut moved to Cardiff) are either cocks or never around.

I just seem to be waiting for the week to start so I can get on with my life.

Isn't that the wrong way round?

I used to feel a bit like that when I was at school. Being slightly strange, I was happier in a maths lesson than I was trying to entertain myself. I didn't have any friends on my street, and it never occurred to me that I could travel further. This was pre-internet and largely pre-computers, so entertainment meant books or Lego.

These days, I find the weekends are full of household chores I don't get time to do in the week. I hate gardening, hoovering, laundry and cleaning the kitchen...

Luckily, I do have one good friend and a few good acquaintances within walking distance. I also hold as many house parties as I think it's possible to have without wearing everyone out. Talking to my boss at work, he seemed almost jealous of the freedom. Ironically, I rather envy his happy family

Tonight, I shall be baking some dead pig won in a raffle and enjoying a glass of wine with aforementioned friend. Life's not so bad

Yep, I too had a couple of close friends in Leeds. One of whom is the housemate who has just moved to Cardiff, the other was a close friend from university. She just got married and moved to Jordan.

I love the weekend, it's two days to do [LIFTED] all and unwind. Don't get me wrong, I like work (or lectures, as will be the case again soon) during the week, but I welcome a day or two a week where I can ditch the monotony in favour of my own genuine interests.

I like the weekends mainly because I don't have to set my alarm normally.
Having said that, not many of my 'local' friends seems that keen to do too much of a weekend and live a bit too far away to go for a swift pint down the pub as at least one of them will have to drive so I normally just meet my brother for a cup of coffee in town and then spend the rest of the weekend putting off the housework I know I should really be doing.

Life was much more interesting when I could say to my friend (who moved to Manchester), lets go to the pub. There was very rarely any arm twisting involved at all.

I don't usually get the weekend off, weekdays are more like it, and I hate them, I would honestly rather be working all 7 days, purely because I find the days of are filled with bugger all, and I always get a headache...like now....

Sounds weird that I would rather work ALL the time than have a day off...oh well.

Lol yet there's me who, despite not having his alarm activated, still wakes up at 0630 on saturday and sunday mornings.

I think it really depends for me. There are some weekends where I'm really busy, have lots of things to do and there are some where I just lounge around, doing nothing in particular.

I've recently just moved and have been working at the new place for about 5-6 weeks now. I've spent one weekend working, one weekend recovering from nightshifts, two sorting things out from my move, one at a family occasion and one just larking about. I've still yet to 'go out', which I think is becoming more and more difficult to do the further you progress in your career.

When I was a student, weekends were another set of days off from uni and so I could go out wednesday night, thursday night, friday night and still have stuff to do on saturday and sunday utilising monday and tuesday as recovery days. I miss the lack of responsibility at uni.

I quite like the idea of being an mental old man in a nice institution.

I'd letch at the nurses, sleep a lot and probably get up to the kind of mischief I did as a kid. Best of all; no responsibilities and hopefully a load of like-minded old gits to get drunk with

I like every other weekend... Well, that isn't exactly true, but the 04:30 start for my girlfriend on the weekends where she works is a pain.

But the weekend means I get to spend time with her (and her daughters, when we are at her place). I get to see her on Tuesday evening and at the weekend. That means the weekend is pretty special.

Just not being in work is very cool

I don't drink, and I'm one of those people who can be happy enough just reading a book... I'll be even happier when I finally get to move out and don't have to listen to my idiotic family during my days off

I pretty much live for the weekend, mainly because I "nothing" my job - I neither enjoy it nor hate it. I've never had a problem occupying myself though, there's always something I can be doing if the missus is at work. I'm moving to a pub in a fortnight though, so this may change if I yearn to go to work for some peace and quiet!

Snap! However, even if I wake up whent he alarm would have gone off there is something immensely satisfying about not actually having to get up then.

I also tend to wake around the alarm time. It's also dependent on whether it's light out.

Me? I'm living for retirement. I hate work.

Working shifts, I don't have a regular time that I wake up.
I like to spend as long as I possibly can get away with in bed on Sunday. It's not unheard of for me to spend over 12hrs in bed from Saturday night to Sunday morning (or afternoon as it more than often is).I'm not living, I'm merely existing. (8+|

The question is how to stop just existing. I'd like simple answers that don't involve large amounts of cash, please.
