You certainly pick some excellent locations there, Paul.

We need a link to Keith Martin's stuff. I'll see if I can dig him out...

There was an article in DSLR Photography in the first issue that I bought a few months back. The guy was using software to turn the entire sphere inside out. He got some amazing results.

I agree. If you are going to make that much effort, you could have found somewhere a little more interesting. :D

I could do the building site where the old garage block is...

At the moment, I am trying the new kit out. Hopefully this weekend will give me a chance to do something better.

Fair comment. It looks like you've got the hang of the kit anyway. ;)

I’m getting the odd mis-match here and there, and it’s as much software control as hardware control when it comes to production. I could be over doing the self-criticism though. I usually do.

I also suspect that I can achieve the same results with far fewer photos, so I’m trying that idea out too.

For those of you with the need for more picturesque panoramas, I’ll offer these:

and

http://www.worldofpaul.com/panoramas/le ... -insi.html

Both from Leeds Castle where I went yesterday. I have some more that need working through. I’ll post those if they turn out well.

The others are being fiddly to do. It’s the removal of my shadow (and that of the tripod) from a tiled/brick laid path which is problematic.

On this subject, the next Sony DSLAR - the A550 - will take 224° panoramas by simply panning the camera with the shutter button held down, plus it has HDR built-in.

How will it cope with parallax shifts? You’ll still have to rotate around the nodal point of the lens.

What a brilliant reason not to buy it.

Why? You don't have to use it if you don't want to, and besides, what's wrong with having it built-in? Have you seen any results from it yet?

Why?
Because I haven't yet seen one HDR image that didn't look overprocessed.

I've seen one or two that work and work well, but most - in my humble opinion - are overprocessed to within a pixel of their lives.
