Am moving out this weekend. Plan on moving most of my stuff out back home in several trips (160 miles each way).

Biggest problem is I keep procrastinating about packing. I've already moved some stuff up but that was easy stuff. Now I have to pack everything else. Given that I'm working, makes things a bit difficult. Wonder if I'll actually move out by the deadline.

How do you motivate yourselves?

I don't, almost everything gets done at the very last minute. I can't even motivate myself to get up early unless I know I actually have to for something. Otherwise I sleep my full 10 hours without fail.

Oi!

Get off your lazy arse and get [LIFTED] packed! [LIFTED] sake!
Nobody else is going to do it for you, what are you waiting for? Megan Fox to come and [LIFTED] you before you get started?
Get on with it!

Might work.

lol.

I need to organise my sh1t for tomorrow, but it's gone 11pm and I haven't even started. All I've done tonight is make and eat pizza, and waste time here and there and porn and a couple of ginger beers.

I need to:

Write a list*
Cut my hair
Pack an over night bag
Print out stuff for the hotel reservation and instructions of how to get there
Browse the HP website for the RAID drivers I'll be needing
Find a floppy disk from somewhere to put them on
Find a floppy disk drive - d'oh!
Pack some lunch, including a healthy salad and some pizza.
Load my mp3s

Last time I moved house, it took about 10 trips in a 406 and I only used to have one room and some kitchen stuff. It took me a month!

I'd better get a move on, although I've got a couple of animés I need to watch first...

* ticks :)

I cheated and got a takeaway so it would save me some time. Unfortunately by not doing anything it was a counterproductive idea.

I very rarely procrastinate about things that involve deadlines. I just make sure I don't sit down, or do anything else until I'm involved in whatever needs doing. Quite often I'll get home from work, grab a black bin bag, turn on some music and get started right away when it's something a) important and 2) time consuming, I set aside things that can be done sitting down (usually sorting my sewing stuff) and do them while I eat, which means I never really stop working on the project, even during 'breaks.'

Sometimes if it's something that needs to be done by the next day, I'll cover the bed in stuff that needs sorting so I can't actually drop it all and go to sleep until the job is done.

Have I mentioned that I'm a bit OCD?

I'm a fifth dan in procrastination.

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day - or even the week - after.

That's my motto. Now, what displacement behaviour can I get up to today to avoid doing anything constructive?

I find procrastination to be a complete waste of time.

In the last few months I've been doing things ASAP after remembering I need to do them (for the most part) - it does wonders for your general mind state IMO :)

Don't get me wrong, there's still some things I put off ;)

I've had five evenings to pack stuff and I haven't done anything except make more of a mess than usual. Gonna start cleaning things up and then start packing. Tomorrow's gonna be a long ass day.

I've been putting my reply to this thread off.

I'm a first class procrastinator.

It's common though, I only know a couple of people who aren't the same. And they're freaks.

Since starting uni I've moved about a fair bit, I've always left it until the morning of the move to pack...

Exam periods are terrible, suddenly the internet becomes interesting again, and the old SNES comes back out as I try to complete Super Mario yet again.
