Change insurers, they're having a laugh. Yes, the accident won't have helped, but I think they're gently telling you they don't want your business. Or at least that's how I see it. Time to shop around!
I'll call them and see what their best price is but I'll shop around a little before then just so I've a few numbers in mind.

Swift Cover and Churchill don't cover Northern Ireland.
The best quote I have so far is from Kwik Fit (I'm not sure we have any of those over here) which includes free MOT and a free oil change for £468.50 but that has an excess of £250.
Next cheapest is 1st Central who I've never even heard of. They want £470.50 with a £150 excess.
I'll check out 1st Central and then give Elephant a call and see where that leads me.

Have you tried More Than? I found their price very competitive and they have some good features, such as a hire car as standard.

Peter.

More Than wouldn't cover me (maybe they also don't do Northern Ireland?) but their partner company, More Than Select, would cover me for £844.99.
So I'll not be going with that company.

So, I take it that there are no local insurance firms to N Ireland that can do better?

Would there be any difference of included sites between Confused and Compare The Market?

Possibly. I heard some advice on the radio last year, and the advice was to compare the comparison sites and go from there.

The only reason I use car insurance comparison sites these days is to remind me the list of potential insurers, so I can go directly to their sites and get quotes.

I did that with esure. Their site couldn't match their quote on confused.com, oddly.

Just renewed my car insurance online. Confused.com does exactly what it says on the tin - bloody well confuse you!!! Anyway, after adding in all the bits where the 'tics' said it should be included, I got fully comp with protected no claims, business use and the wife as another named driver for £188.

I would add in my defense though, that I'm ancient, have only ever had two shunts in my driving career (one not my fault) and am driving a 7 year old rep car

Nick's a new driver, so that figure is not unusual. I don't think his car is gold-plated or anything. In fact, I suspect his hifi is worth more than his motor.

The majority of my quotes a few years ago were five or even six figures! I managed to get a four figure one and was very pleased indeed.

I paid £400 for it

Heather - the car is worth more than the stereo. Just. you must have been reading my thread in the hi-fi forum?? :)
