A friend went travelling after uni with her then boyfriend for a year. Went across India, down to the Andaman Islands, nearly got killed in a coach crash that wiped out all the seats from the rear up to the one's they were in. I should point out that she's the person in the link in my sig, so not a great track record for visiting India, all in all.

I found a dead sheep on a beach once. Presumably it fell off a cliff, and I think the salty water made it rot in a particularly fishy way. It was a bloated stinky sheepskin with a skull, and it could knock you out from 100 paces. Apparently human bones wash up on the banks, mixed with those of cows and other creatures. They're collected and ground into meal. Even though it probably stinks worse than Venice or the Thames, I'd still quite like to be there. I don't plan on drinking it.

Apart from the world's most exotic locations for SCUBA diving, I can't think of anywhere that I really want to go above any other place.
I have hardly explored Europe, never mind the rest of the world. I've package holidayed in Portugal once, mainland Spain only once, Bulgaria once and I've spent a couple of days in Denmark. I've stayed a week in Turkey but I can't recall if Icmeler is in Europe or Asia. I've been to Paris twice and Disney Paris three times as well as Mallorca, Minorca and Cyprus but I have never set foot in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary or anywhere else in Western or the former Eastern Europe that I can't think of right now.
I've been to Tenerife twice, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote once, but apart from the Egypt trip mentioned below, I have never been anywhere in mainland Africa.
I've been to Israel three times and from there I have been to both Jordan and Egypt. I've been to Orlando twice and Cancun once. I've also been to the Isle of Mann, and I've been around plenty of places in England, Scotland and Wales, but I've never been to Ireland and I would like to go.
I like to enjoy the history of a place as well as simply having a holiday. Ephesus in Turkey is one place I would really like to go back to, so almost any place you would care to mention with some history would do me and it doesn't have to be ancient. I would like to do battlefield tours or similar.

A very long time ago now I was a cadet and deck officer on merchant ships trading to the Far East. China, Malaysia, Singapore, the Middle East, Indonesia, Taiwan and I have no inclination to go back to for differing reasons. Japan I'd like to see away from the urban areas. Plus as a teenager through school or a long family trek in a Transit to Italy I saw Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. Switzerland was tame but great scenery, Italy was fascinating and great food (you ain't tasted real pizza until you've experienced the 'real McCoy' from a small cafe that does it the real Italian way), Germany was good and so was France-baguettes, even more so coissantes(? spelling) in this country don't compare to one fresh from a small bakery in France.
My choices now would be places like the American national parks, the Andes, a return to the Dolomites in Italy, places like that. Plus Venice, San Francisco, St Petersburg. Not places I'd want to stay but definitely cities that are worth a visit. Sadly I don't have the means, and I'm very unlikely to in the future, to visit such places.
In truth you can have a great experience without going beyond western Europe and Scandinavia and that is perhaps possible for me in the future.
Richard.

Did you go for a skiing/snowboarding trip? I've heard there are some real bargains to be had in Bulgaria for winter sports.

You've travelled a huge amount compared to me. I've been to Holland and France many times. Germany once, and Tunisia twice. I've also been to Wales and Scotland a few times, plus of course I was born in Cornwall and returned often. I've also been to Merseyside a few times. Great country, but I wouldn't want to live there.

omigosh...like to visit: Central American Mayan sites deep in the jungle; the awesomely wide sweeps of Canadian lakes and dramatic endlessnessness of unpopulated wildernessnesses; Uluru; a delightful and friendly coffeehouse in Kathmandu with primo hubblybubbly and astounding views from my table; Planet X... like to revisit: sitting in the middle and on the edge of Iguaucu Falls, Brazil/Argentinian borders; cresting the final rise approaching Macchu Picchu by foot, Peru - love to see how they've changed from 30yrs ago; Yokohama downtown - love to see how it's changed from 45yrs ago, especially my favourite 100 Yen shop , my youth...sigh...

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Mont Sanit Michel's English twin (at least, I didn't notice it), St Michael's Mount in Cornwall. It is also built on a small insel at the end of a causeway and is of a very similar design.
I've travelled a fair bit. At the moment, I don't want to travel anywhere else.
That said, I'd love to:
Visit Hong Kong in the 1930s Take a 1920s Nile Cruise Visit 19th Century India Visit 19th Century Africa Visit early 20th Century Australia
And a few others. But basically I want to visit them in their heyday, not how they are now, ravished by commercialism and industrialisation.

I've nipped over to Dublin, but that's my only claim to being abroad...
I'd love to visit Iceland for the Aurora Borealis, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Italy, Egypt would be cool too...
Though having said that, I've got little motivation to go travelling, I quite like the UK...

I've been there, and very nice it is as well. I'm fairly sure I took some quite nice photos the last time I visited... I'll have to have a hunt when I get home. I've also been to: Cyprus. A couple of times. That's where my mum came from, and a wonderful place it is. Malta. Been a few times. That's where my dad's from. Another wonderful place. France. Well, technically Eurodisney Paris, but full of rather rude European types... been twice Italy. Worked there for a week or so. Didn't like it. Germany. Also worked there for a week or two, straight after the Italian Job. Probably the most polite people I've ever met. Does Edinburgh count? Been there a few times, (working) and liked it. Very clean streets. I'm sure I've been to other places, but I'm tired, and have a printer installtion to do so I'll update this as and when...

Well I've recently been to Rome so thats off the list. I've also done the Spanish holiday thing, Paris, Brussels and a large part of the Uk.
That still pretty much leaves though....... everywhere else! I think there's a world of wonder out there and no matter where I visit there will always be something else I want to see.

There is a really long list of places I really want to visit: Egypt - Has been my dream since I first read "Death on the Nile" when I was about 6 or 7. Finally going to get there this Xmas, only 27 years later Vietnam / Cambodia The Isle of White Florence Chile Brazil Java Russia Hong Kong Dubai Easter Island Jersey Cornwall Croatia Hungary Australia / New Zealand That's just off the top of my head I'm sure there are many more.

Hong Kong is on of the few on that list I've been to. It's well worth a visit, especially near Christmas. They decorate entire skyscrapers.
I'd like to visit Machu Picchu.
