We're currently trying to shuffle furniture around and find a clever guitar storage idea so that we can buy baby furniture. Need to do some painting too.

This image represents a bit of a step for me. The last week, I’ve been working on an application in XCode. It’s pretty ambitious for me, but I’m feeling really buoyed up by the results. The app takes two images form a stereo pair and creates a png of what is known as a Holmes Card (that is the large cards which had stereo photos on them which you put in viewers). I’ve had a bit of help with the MPO extraction (MPO files are typically files produced by stereo cameras - they hold the left and right JPEGs in one image file) as my efforts were failing (used stackoverflow.com for that). What I have at the end of the week is the full process - import image, apply a background card image (from a choice of 1 at the moment), and finally export PNG. The app also lets you change the distance between the two images. Some cards have the butted right up against each other; others have them slightly apart. The size of the images are also controllable. Again, I’ve seen variations. I did something similar in LiveCode last year, but I’ve been finding LiveCode low, clunky and possibly not up to scratch when it comes to speed needed for image processing. Also their licensing costs if I wanted to sell the app (who knows?) is painful - $999 per year. Feeling rather pleased with myself. There’s much more to do (adding functionality) as well as making the UI work in a more sensible way. Right now, though, this is further down this particular rabbit hole than I have gone before, (further even than the Metric Watch app).

Your original announcement was rather subtle me thinks: Hearty congratulations to the pair of you!

If he did he's done an impressive amount of legwork (mouse work): Rule 34 (Internet meme)
