I keep picturing Trump sat in the Oval Office behind the desk and the image is hilarious. It can't happen. Can it

Congratulations!

And I see it as the Americans are voting for either a machine gun or a hand grenade... I'll leave you to work out which is which.

It's feasible and I guess that's the problem.

Scott Adams (as in the Dilbert cartoonist) has been broadly coming out in support of Trump for a while although he's framing it in terms of the guys powers of persuasion and he's also mightily (and if he is correct, justifiably) p!ssed off about various underhand tactics that have been deployed against him on social media because he's saying positive things about Trump.

The major problem is the media coverage of both candidates has been so focused on their personalities and bickering that it's very difficult to get to any decent detail on actual policies, particularly on Clintons side. Trumps 'policies' that get reported sound like the raving of a racist madman but it strikes me that some of it could be in the 'say something mad, get a reaction, step back a pace then reveal the actual intention so the real goal looks reasonable (even if it's only slightly less mental than the headline grabbing one)' method

It's funny that you should mention the policies thing. The Clinton campaign has a massive section of their website devoted to her various policies, and they are generally well thought through and nuanced:

https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/

The Trump campaign less so. It's got some stuff up there, but it's woefully lacking in substance, especially compared to Clinton's efforts:

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies

It's also worth noting that for the last 15 months the US media have been absolutely obsessed with the Clinton email issue, a story that's been shown to have almost zero merit. It's hugely swayed things and with no basis in reality.

The press has also on the whole been hugely reticent when it comes to dealing with Trump's vast, vast array of failings. Kurt Eichenwald has posted a list of all the financial / business failings of Trump over the years:

https://storify.com/clair3/kurt-eichenw ... dings-from

And that doesn't include the political horror show that are his policy positions, from banning Muslims from entering the US, building the wall with Mexico, punishing women for getting abortions, the open anti-semitism and racism etc. etc. etc.

Oh yeah, and Trump also has to stand trial between now and Christmas on two charges, one of racketeering, and one of the rape of a minor.

But you know, emails.

I didn't agree with either candidate but felt Clinton was the lesser of two evils.
