The interesting thing is this seems to have happened when she wasn't even there. That seems rather pointless to me. Mind you, there are some phenomenally ignorant people in the world.

Hopefully this time it will have been witnessed by someone both sides have some trust in (should such a person actually exist) because the last time homophobic abuse against Angela Eagles was claimed it became the subject of some dispute.

Hardly a surprise. The decision to exclude actual party members from an arbitrary date was a simple case of breach of contract IMHO - the NEC didn't have a leg to stand on there.
I note at the moment the Join link on the website says that you will be a provisional member for 8 weeks (or until the 24th of October if you joined after the 23rd of June) and can't vote at meetings during this time period but that's it.
The page on the leadership election has the other, now invalid, rules on it. I expect they'll have to be amended fairly quickly.

And on an 'Oh, FFS' note, the Labour NEC are apparently appealing the decision. Seriously, using the party's money to appeal a decision that will mean more party members get to have a say. How more obvious can they make their contempt of the rank & file?

Give them time, I'm sure they'll keep at it.

IN fact they've just had NEC elections and Corbyn supporters are now by far in the majority on the NEC. Funny how someone so unelectable keeps winning elections. I suspect the appeal may be quietly dropped. The more interesting question is whether they'll have to give the £25 crowd (inc. me, in fact) their money back. I suspect in the end not, as the £25 fee made you a different form of member to the £3 fee. The party can argue "well, you paid £25 to get to be the form of member that cost £25 to get to be, so even though that other form of member have been given a vote back, you still got was you paid for." Not really a very satisfactory situation but it has far more legal stability than the one they decided to defend in the high court at someone else's expense.

I understood the judge ordered the refund of the £25 in the case of the five that brought the legal challenge.
That would seem to set a precedent, at least in the case of party members who joined between the January cutoff and whenever the actual election period started. Anyone who wasn't a member and paid the £25 wouldn't be due any sort of refund.
Assuming of course either the appeal is dropped or lost.

It's almost like they're hoping to tie things up in the courts long enough to have had the election. But I'm sure nobody would be that calculating. And now, a totally unrelated photo :D

Now I'm confused - I thought Smithers was the gay one.

Given the faction in the party he's rumoured to be behind has lost every single battle it's fought since Corbyn first got on the leadership ballot paper, both int he party and in the courts, you need to find a photo where he looks much, much angrier. And is possibly force choking a minion of some sort.

I was trying to find one they used on Mock the Week (in the Frankie Boyle days) - Mandy getting out of a car I think but described as firing evil from his eyes.
