The. evidence is against that. There was little reduction in avoidance when he dropped the rate before. Basically the only rate of tax people don't try to avoid is 0%. Not really a big issue for international business who use financial instruments to not pay any tax. And the obvious question is - what is he going to offset this loss in taxation income (such as it is) against? The only things he can do is put up taxes for individuals, borrow more money (yes, borrow money to effectively give it to private companies) or further cut public services, many of which are already at breaking point. None of those things are good for the majority of the population. I under stand why he does it - fundamentally he believes private enterprise will solve all problems, so therefore encouraging private business is always a good thing to do. Unfortunately he is wrong on both counts. It might be a viable option to provide tax breaks on money invested in British based companies, or measures to allow such business to become more competitive and productive (like apprenticeships say). But a blanket cut on corporation tax can't really provide the stimulus he hopes it will. It doesn't seem to had any immediate positive effect (FTSE still down further today).

I'm developing a cold and if I'm not feeling better tomorrow I won't be going into work.

Even though we've no work on at the moment our bosses have become utterly paranoid that there's not enough visible staff. This has nothing to do with the fact that people have quit because of management idiocy or ethical corruption. Oh, no.
In my workplace I'm one of those people who helps others whenever possible. So I take my lunchbreak late to allow others to have theirs at 12. On a chippy run earlier I didn't even get myself something, but got for everyone else. A bunch of people all went out around 12 and every one of them was 'late' coming back. Guess who got it in the neck from a boss for doing people a favour while they 'screwed up'?
Oh, and the bosses can have lunch any time they like. Hell, they're barely ever here.

Getting out of bed tomorrow My personal hell is apparently going to involve endless Bulgarian Lunges, I am really aching already and I can't imagine how awful it's going to feel to try and get out of bed and down the stairs in the morning

As posted in FPOTD, I didn't get the job, but the CEO called personally and was very impressed and wants to keep my details, because there might be a second job coming up in this area...

So when you said you wanted rid of the £1 = $1 pricing, this wasn't exactly what you meant?
