This is just getting more and more absurd.
(Aside : No, thanks, really. All morning I've had 'This Charming Man' in my head now I've got Elton John as well).

Was it Jimmy Carr who said "Unless you're Chinese, in which case it's squirrel"?

The thing I've never really got about tax evasion/avoidance.. (going off at a tangent for a mo).
Say you're Graham Norton and you earn £2.5m a year. We'll assume that's gross earnings. Say without any schemes or anything you end up paying 55% of that in TAX, Ni etc. That means you've got £1.12m in your pocket over the year.
Say you get a clever accountant and you end up paying 15% in tax, NI etc. That means you keep £2.12m in your pocket.
Now, obviously, that extra million is A LOT of money. By anybody's standards. However the fact is £1.12m is A LOT of money by anybody's standards. I suspect more money than Graham or in fact most people could realistically spend - it's pretty much £20K a week and there's only so much stuff you can buy. So you don't actually need that extra million, it's just going to sit in an investment vehicle somewhere, probably turning into more money over time which you also won't need.
Its like... say I give you two entire Black Forest gateau cakes. You're going to think "wow, I have all this cake, this is great." But you can't actually eat all that cake, so some of it is just going to end up sitting in the fridge.
Obviously the real situation is slightly more complex - Norton's agent probably takes a massive chunk of his earnings etc - but I've always wondered about the 'Brewster's Millions' problem for the super rich - why are you bothering with the effort of evading/avoiding paying tax, when you've already got more money than you could possibly spend in your lifetime anyway? What's the point? Is it simple avarice, is it people are resentful of paying tax in any sense at all?
I guess I just don't have the mindset for it.
Jon

Who the feck is David Gest, and why are half the papers on the planet covering his death?
As far as I can tell, he was in celebrity big brother, but I've never heard of him. Don't you have to be a celebrity first?
Was he the model for Mr Potatohead?

He's a big producer and his main claim to fame was marrying Liza Minelli in the company of Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson

Happy 79th birthday Mum. Always missed.
And on the anniversary of her birthday my friend welcomed a little boy in to the world this morning at 4am. The circle of life continues.

Sends PDF to someone to look at an idea. The reply: “Can I have it in a more editable format so I can tinker with it?” He, of course, means Word. That’s what all his ideas are done in. I’m using Affinity Designer, which churns out PDFs, EPS, and other various bitmap formats. Basically formats for printing and the web. But, obviously, not Word. I’ve said to take a screen shot of the PDF and mark that up. FWIW - I don‘t actually have a copy of Word. I’ve a few apps that open Word documents, but as I’m not in the business of cranking out text for reuse elsewhere, so it’s not on the list of things to buy. Most clients are fairly well behaved and send me PDFs.

If there is a god, could he not take the reality star [LIFTED] instead of the celebs who contributed to the world?

I've been here four years at this job. I've got a pay rise. 1%. The amount is so small I'd have been happier if they'd just given it as a bonus.
