Office 2016 will force you to install updates | TechRadar

That's gone well so far.
...

Wrong. Office 2016 is for users or businesses who don't want to update straight away when security updates and new features come along. The forced updates belong to Office 365 only and what they have done there is to add a SLOW ring for businesses, something they didn't get until now, so it is actually an improvement.

Microsoft have explicitly stated, if you don't want to have the new features, you should get Office 2016 licences instead of Office 365 subscriptions.

Indeed. Part of the deal with office 365 is that you are kept on the latest version of office all the time so this is hardly news. MS haven't gone down the Adobe CC route quite yet as you can still buy Office without the subscription.

I believe that's not true on the Mac (which is the most recent version of Office to be updated). Office 2016 for Mac is only available via an Office365 subscription. They announced it was going to be available as a one off purchase item at some point but the last time I checked, that hadn't happened yet. I very much suspect the next version of Windows Office might go the same way - office365 first with quite a long lead in to 'non subscription distribution' version you can buy.

Edit : Ah, it's coming out to buy September 22nd. That's (IIRC) three months after it became available for Office365 subscribers.

Probably 22nd September, along with Office 2016 for Windows (aha, missed that Jon hat updated his post).

Just the Mac has been neglected for so long, that they threw Office 365 users on Mac a bone.

I found a couple of nice features in Office 2016 for Windows yesterday. In Outlook, if you click on the paperclip to attach a document to the email, it now opens a drop-down list with the most recent documents you have worked on, so you don't have to hunt for them. 9 times out of 10, you will probably want to send the document you have just been working on.

And in Word, if you fail to select the title above a block of text, but the mouse pointer was half over that line when you started to select, it now automatically selects that first line for you. Very useful. Saved me a lot of re-clicking yesterday, when I had to move around a hundred blocks of text around in a document I was working on.

No. My Fb friends are more even-balanced than that.

I, of course, like that (not that I'm buying it). But I'm curious as to what other people think of the colours... too much?

Alien vs Predator Mini-Comic Recreated with Photos by NECA - The Toyark - News
http://news.toyark.com/2015/09/23/alien ... eca-176542

I actually own the originals of those... Even I can't justify this set - I've got the updated version of the original Predator this set is based on, and quite a few black Aliens already

They do look brilliant though, especially super-glossy Alien there. Using the comic as a template is genius.
