Idris Elba "Too Street" to Play James Bond, 007 Author Says (Skyfall spoilers)
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/i ... mes-819255

Had a whole reply typed, but you know, Firefox. He's full of sh1t. Craig's Bond is more barely-contained thug than suave, though I'm not saying that's definitive. Moore wasn't exactly suave even compared to those who came after him. What the hell does 'street' mean in terms of acting?

Skyfall is utter sh1te though. The MI6 spybook must have been blown out the window in the explosion...

Marvel Shake-Up: Film Chief Kevin Feige Breaks Free of CEO Ike Perlmutter (Exclusive) - Hollywood Reporter
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/m ... ief-819205

Good. It'll be interesting to see just how much of the recent shenanigans were down to money, who was being a dick etc. Though I suspect the crap around Whedon was Feige overcooking the future line-up, and a lot of it will actually be down to him. Frankly they've been incredibly lucky to salvage anything from some of the films, like Thor (just dull), Iron Man 2 (dull advert for SHIELD) and Ant-Man (decent despite everything).

I actually saw some sort of Billy stage production starring Pete Postlethwaite no less, but I was so ignorant at the time I can't even remember what it was

I got taken to see it when we were studying it at school by my step Mum and Malcolm Tierney and Sean Bean were in it.

According to this BBC article it is only the US Netflix service that will be impacted by the Epix contract going to Hulu.
I think I'll still knock down my film list though.

'Bond' Author Apologizes For Calling Idris Elba 'Too Street' — Latino-Review.com

Andrew Garfield Says he Tried to Add 'Flavor' to "The Amazing Spider-Man" Films — Latino-Review.com
http://www.latino-review.com/news/andre ... -man-films

Whoever wrote the chatter around that link hasn't been paying attention. Garfield has gone out of his way not to blame Sony directly, simply saying there were problems and he didn't want to discuss it publicly. It's pretty fcuking obvious Sony were the problem, and anyone who has seen Spidey 2 could even guess that. The guy is being continually asked about this directly, and he still hasn't been badgered into the response the press wants.

And phoning it in? Someone who finally married the humour to the action during a scene? A cinematically genuine love story instead of literally whimpering like the previous guy? Garfield didn't put a foot wrong. Sony fcuked up all of the above with it's greed.

'Bourne' Sequel: Matt Damon Gets Vincent Cassel as Villain — Latino-Review.com
http://www.latino-review.com/news/bourn ... as-villain

Who on Earth have they got writing for that site? Shaky camerawork was the least of the problems with 2 and 3. They're still watchable, but they lost the truly frenetic action and pacing of the original, and 3 was just a repeat of everything before it, right down to the Moby song.

The Studios Are Going After People Who Have Downloaded Milla Jovovich's New Movie - CINEMABLEND
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Studios- ... 80457.html

That film didn't even have enough good scenes for a trailer - it's no coincidence that it's the main plank of a court case. Same sorta deal with Expendables 3, that film flopped even compared to it's predecessors, critically and commercially. Stallone even admitted it later ffs, acknowledging they went for a lower rating killing the interest of it's core audience.

This sh1t isn't new. Fox did it with Wolverine Origins both to hype the movie and hide the fact it was a POS in controversy.

“There will be a new Dredd film”, says John Wagner | Den of Geek
http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/dredd/3 ... ohn-wagner

Urban might have been such a good Dredd that the lack of a budget meant he came across as a bit dull (through no fault of his own). He needs more interaction with the scumbags at the very least.

Why Disney Executives Apparently Think Avengers 2 Was A Failure - CINEMABLEND
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-Disn ... 80867.html

Disney has been through this before with it's other franchises so I wouldn't be surprised at such a reaction*, and AoU got mixed reviews relative to it's predecessor. Compared to that film it's a tough watch in places.

* My guess is this is why they'll conversely sink money into serious risks like John Carter and Lone Ranger. No easy answers as to what'll do well. They tend not to even send sequels to major animated wins to the cinema (Lion King, Aladdin, you name it).
