Amazon are really pushing their luck recently IMO

The new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite delivers laser-quality text | TechRadar
http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-co ... xt-1297053

Ads? As if it isn't dear enough? You only have to look at the Voyage to know they're deliberately hobbling their own products to suit their monopoly (not that that's news). Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the standard Kindle e-readers always ad-free in the UK at least? :?

You've then got them raising the free delivery opportunity to a £20 spend, falsely pushing you towards Prime. It's even more false when you consider they'll offer to slightly delay the delivery in return for a £1 digital credit they know you'll probably never use.

All this is happening right around the time they're having to pay UK tax funnily enough, I don't know about elsewhere...

Not sure about the UK, but generally the base Kindle for the last few generations was always ad-subsidised and you could buy a more expensive version without ads.

Same for the Fire, that always came with ads, or you could pay extra for ad free cover screen.

My wife tells me that we are only seeing one family, and that there are others out there. I hope she's right.

You know it's just a TV show right? lol

Those crappy ads for new bands... 'THIS is (name you'll never remember), and their weak as a newborn single from their limp as celery DEBUT album...'

Hyperbole with sub-sub-indie bands? Spose it's necessary when even the lead single doesn't hold your interest lol.

I've just realised (properly) that Spotify has been showing video ads alongside they're usual pathetic audio ones. Who the hell is clicking back to the app or tab to watch those?

Whatever davrosG5 posted in the Islamic State thread on the News Forum. It was enough to trip the hyper-sensitive net filter foisted upon us by our IT bods.

An awkward work dinner coming up.
A couple of staff are leaving, and as I consider them both friends, I said yes to attending.
Of course, that woman has also said yes to it.
So that'll be a fun evening then.

Yup, looks like there's about 10 of us going. Not sure that's enough to stay clear.

So, ferry booked... I'm coming over to Blighty to visit my cousin and his family for a long weekend at the end of the month.

At the moment, it will be a run down to the South Coast, a couple of days there, then back up to Dover.

Passive aggressive housemates.
Little things - I'm doing too much washing up, think of the water bill.
Maybe I should buy a rotary drier so we're not 'fighting' over the clothes drier (it's never been an issue AFAIK).
I want to hoover too often, despite the carpet being covered in rabbit hair.

Hmmmm.

Oh dear. Storms have apparently broken some openreach equipment in Peterborough so no internets for me on the broadband.

Storm take out anything else?
