That is good news for Apple owners who have stocked up on Thunderbolt peripherals, maybe the next MacBook will work with their Thunderbolt gear again. We certainly have a lot of TB kit sitting around - TB displays, TB drives etc. having to buy a Thunderbolt -> USB C-style adapter cable is a bit better than having to dump it all and buy all new kit. The new MacBook looks very nice as a portable device, but with only USB C, how am I supposed to connect it to our existing Apple Thunderbolt Display and get the USB hub and Ethernet working?

You're not. The Macbook is not for people who have masses of peripherals any more than a bicycle is for someone with one leg. It's for people who pretty much just have laptop and all the peripherals they use (data, printing etc) are accessible wirelessly. The port isn't a data port you can charge through, it's a charging port that also has a data connection function for the odd time you might not being our usual environment. Every product Apple or MS or whoever make does not have to meet the use case of every single customer they may have. If you want a Mac laptop, there are plenty of models you could buy that would meet your needs. One single model in their range doesn't. How is this a problem?

The financial sting of owning my own home is kicking in. I used to buy things whenever I wanted to. Now I have mortgage + bills going out regularly, I'm having to budget. Didn't think it'd happen this quick but there you go.

Just wait until you have kids as well. Then you'll be planning to get that new PC game in 3 years time, when it is in the 1.99 bargain bin!

I've already decided that a PS4 is too extravagant, and that 17-55mm lens I really wanted will either have to be second hand or I'll have to wait a good while. And this month I've got the car insurance, next month is the 6 monthly oil change plus a few necessary bits and the month after is road tax. Yippee(!).

If you think they're evil maybe they don't like you?

No. I lived away for eight years. Six of those were at uni. The seventh year was in hospital accommodation (which was free - no rent or bills) and the eighth was in a 1-bed flat but the rent was about half what I'm paying for mortgage so I still had lots of cash left over. Went back to live at home for five years before moving out again.

Nope, nope, cats are just evil. Or at least contemptuous of anything which is not cat. But also very, very cunning.

Not as evil as rabbits. New housemate (an old friend) has a large American rabbit and a cat. The cat is nothing but affectionate. The rabbit's already had a go at my feet. And which is the alleged vegetarian?
