Congrats. I have a fruit cake in the cupboard I can dig out lol

Was it one you got when this forum was created?

6 years ago I got married.

In that time, I got made redundant and found a new job very quickly. Also became a father in late December.

What's happened to everyone else in the 6 years?

I have been saving for a house which is going well.

Spent a year out of work as did quite a few of my colleagues due to management assuming treating people like crap would be ok. The new place is getting that way too...

Six years ago, I moved back home for my GP training. In that time, I've qualified, got a steady job, got engaged and bought a house.

Well I spectacularly failed to earn myself a degree about that time, gotten married, had two children and have since emigrated to France. Nothing much

I've moved to Australia, settled down, got engaged, owned some expensive cars and motorbikes, had my engagement break down, lost the money and lifestyle, moved back to England, and now I'm here!

If this thread has taught us anything, its that a lot can happen in 6 years.

I forgot to mention also that my Dad passed away and I no longer speak to my Mum.

Blimey.. er... moved house. Had quite a large car crash. Split up with a fiance, went on lots of dates, Got back together with the fiance (although marriage is definitely off the table, so I'm not sure what the classification is with that now). Basically the same job despite three workplace reorganisations. Got a bit fat, got fit again. Qualified as a chocolatier - possibly that bit was related to the 'got fat' bit. Can't just throw the practice stuff away y'know! Saw an eclipse. Re-learned how to snowboard...

It'#s been fun, in the main.

Lost both my parents.

Try and make up with your Mum. Life is too short.

You're right.

We did try, but it didn't last. It's a complicated situation, she's still my Mum, I still care for her I just don't want to speak to her.

Do what's right for you. Being related with someone is not a good enough reason on its own to have a relationship with them.

^^^I'd agree with that. I never thought our family had any real issues but over the last five years, I've seen our extended family go from happily united to rifts and divides. The worst thing is that it's over petty things. Almost everyone needs to do some growing up.
