Congrats on the new job. I know a few colleagues who've left to work in Qatar. Supposedly they pay for your accommodation, your utilities, kids' school fees and give you a tax free salary. TBH if I didn't have family ties to think of, the fiancée and I would have gone.

The gas leak 10 feet from my front door.

I came home, the street reeked of gas and none of the neighbours thought it warranted a second's consideration.

I phoned the number and a guy was at my door within 30 minutes - his gear detected a strong leak (no sh!t) and an hour later a team turned up to start digging up the pavement - they should be done no later than 3am, they said. Still, better a broken sleep than dying in my bed. :|

Scary stuff. Just as well you phoned.

I'm commuting. Four weeks on, four weeks off.

Hoping that a project I have written a spec for gets the go ahead. It’s a bit of an odd one, as I’ve not met the client yet (I’m basically contracting for a design company here who want someone like me around to help with more complex web site work), so while I have a good idea about how I’d approach it form my experience, I have no idea how the clients may want it to work a there may be industry standards that I’ve not been made aware of.

So design company has my notes and diagrams of how I expect it will function, and they’ve sent it off for consideration. I’m just waiting.

My Mum's 70th birthday celebs. Trying to get my sister on board to think outside the box, stop being so selfish and stingy and consider someone else for a change.
I can't see it happening somehow!

As your sister got a good relationship with your mum? Maybe she is actually not bothered.
My aunt got argumentative with my mum for not getting involved in her mum's birthday celebration. She just couldn't get her round that my mum had not interest in it.

It's possible that she's not really bothered, but it's mostly because she's incredibly self-centred and isn't really bothered about anything that affects anyone other than herself.
Normally I leave her to it, but I'm not letting her navel-gaze through OUR Mothers 70th Birthday!!

Luxury!

Small kitchen or not, it is remarkably dull.

The house we bought had two kitchens and two bathrooms. The upstairs kitchen/living area was converted back into a bedroom and the 2nd bathroom into a shower room - the upstairs bath is under the eves and you can't stand in it, so showering meant kneeling in the tub.

Haha!

I feel your pain.

Also, all the energy seems to be spent on a single hair and leaves all the others behind.

I get that with eyebrows too. One ridiculously long hair that suddenly pops out.
