Doesn't she understand the kudos she's getting from all your mates who think she's clearly awesome because she's happy for you to have an amazing holiday?
If she didn't want you to go and have fun, she should have said so.

I totally agree. We try and keep it straight and simple and it works most of the time.

Although I got a ear-full at the weekend. Both girls were visiting. I said, "if I pick up the youngest from the station, then you go with the dog," to my wife, whereupon eldest daughter said, "no problem I'll take the dog for a walk on the way home, it is staying with me tonight."

Fine. I went and picked up youngest. Youngest went up stairs, where mother and eldest were...

3 hours later, I get asked why I haven't taken the dog out! Turns out, youngest went straight to bed, eldest was annoyed, because she thought youngest would go home with her and they would look after the dog together, so now she won't take the dog out... And I was supposed to have telepathically received this information and gone out with the dog!

Yes. Yes, you were. I mean... DUH! :P

Also unsure why trees have been cut down like this in the city centre. They seemed fine last year, and they've been lopped down like this. It's not pollarding, these are just tall stumps.

No reply from Essex CC to an email I sent today about this.

The argument I've just had with my wife.

There goes the evening.

Looks like I'm being made redundant again.
Slim chance of getting one of two jobs in the United Arab Emirates, but I'm not hopeful.
Should know by Friday

Sad news. Hope you find something quickly if it happens. Being unemployed sucks.

Silverlight and Amazon Prime: God awful. Quality is bad. Use the Flash option instead; quality improves but it's just as unstable.
UPS believe my address is wrong, despite the house being here over 30 years. Now waiting in again tomorrow.

Good job we hadn't started the extension yet. We were just days away from signing up a builder. Got a bit of savings still. Just got them back up after my last period of unemployment.

£4 billion to populate Mars in 10 years.

Maybe £200 billion in 50 years would do it.

Well we're not talking about a round trip. Fire and forget really, isn't it?

One sincerely hopes not... I can't quite get my head around the notion of what they're planning to do. It's not just they're going somewhere with the certain knowledge they'll never come back, it's that they're going somewhere knowing that they're only going to have a community of at most a few dozen people around them for the rest of their lives. OK, so they'll still be able to communicate with Earth but it won't be real time, they won't be able to talk to people. And, bluntly, if it all goes tits up they'll probably die in a very unpleasant fashion.

They genuinely are the spiritual successors of the people who set off across the oceans when it took four years at sea to get to another continent.

They're brave but they also strike me as a bit mad.
