And you missed Christmas by a few weeks ;)

Thanks.

It's not my perfect house but it's certainly fine as a starter home. Needs a bit of a clean although it's definitely been redecorated in the past 2 years. Need to start looking at furnishing the house. After buying a house and engagement ring, my wallet's taken a hit.

A hit? You think that's taking a hit? Haven't got kids, have you? ;)

Seriously though, congratulations on both counts. :D

 +1 and +1 - and I only have step children!

Clichés are fine, as long as they are sincere.

I went the whole hog, down on one knee in a public park and everything. I had worked it out in advance, either the park where her God daughter was getting married, or if that wasn't as romantic as I had hoped, then on the steps of the Rathaus in Bremen.

Just ordered red roses, chocs and heart-shaped balloons for my GF. But I really want to get her a giant teddy bear. Preferably one that she can hug.

Any suggestions?

if you choose a public setting, are you 100% sure she'd like the attention?

The proposal is entirely separate from the valentine's day celebrations.

The gifts are just what I want to get my GF for Valentine's day.

The ring is for later in the day.

What's the title of that fairly recent film where a bunch of simple, ordinary (probably middle-class Americans) suddenly get superpowers?
I was meaning to add it to my IMDB watch-list for ages and now I can't recall the bloody name of it. *sigh*
