It appears that Marvel and Sony were in talks to use Spiderman in Captain America 3.
Sony refused, probably because it didn't want another studio making a better film with the web-slinger than it can make, I imagine.

It's no bloody wonder they can't make a decent Spidey sequel... The irony is Sony Pictures could be a comedy hit.

There's no way Marvel would hand over creative control of a billion-dollar franchise of films to another, rival, studio.
If that was ever to happen, there'd need to be sweeping drugs checks carried out immediately at Marvel/Disney.
