Why are there so many unreasonable people in my life? It's like basic logic just goes out the window...

What is it with this time of year? It seems like once November hits, my life is all about people and pets dying, getting very ill, having accidents :(

I remember thinking that before too, I wasn't sure if it was just my own perspective. Anyone else noticed it?

I think my mother may have been diagnosed with cancer and deliberately not told anyone. She had a letter in the post arrive this morning and somehow I spotted the word Macmillan through the address window bit of the envelope*.

I'm not one to pry and I've not opened the letter. But I'm not sure how to approach this or whether I should say anything. Looking back, I've certainly noticed that she's been quieter about her health over the last couple of weeks and where she would normally complain about all of her aches and pains she's been quieter.

I don't know what to do.

* no I didn't do anything dodgy like steam the envelope or hold it up to a light. Just picked the envelope up from the front door mat and looked at the name to see whose it was.

Might it be a fundraising letter or acknowledgement of a donation? entry into a race for life?

Personally, I wouldn't do anything or say anything. If she has been and doesn't want you to know then that's up to her, if she hasn't been able to decide how to approach it then you can't push her into it, if she has been diagnosed then she may be waiting for an idea of the seriousness, the treatment plan or any of the other 101 things there are to settle after a diagnosis of that type.

Maybe it's nothing, but even if it's something I'd give her the choice of coming to you about it.

I get them quite often, but then I have used them in the past so that's not necessarily a helpful indicator.

Well talk about wrong end of the stick. She closed a store card account and she had pennies left. They offered to pay her back or give it to Macmillan on her behalf.

Why it is that some people, (naming no names) can get away with making a FPOTD that is not, in fact, their FPOTD...

Just saying, is all ;) :P
