No. 4

Because it looks great and also when you change your other kit, chances are it'll still look good.

Buff (or other neck warmer type thingy) made from Merino wool is the answer there. When it's extra cold, I cover myself right up to goggles and breath right through it. It gets moist, but merino retains it's insulating properties when wet, and doesn't freeze anywhere near as much as synthetics. It also doesn't smell - ever.

Buffs are awesome I wouldn't be without my 3 now. They do smell after a few uses, but easily wash and dry quickly.

Buffs are great, but they do smell. I wore mine all over Europe on the bike in Summer 4,000 miles in 11 days, 8 hours or more a day on the bike, and it smelt a bit ripe after that.

Not all Buffs are merino. In fact, most aren't. A merino buff will not smell. I've worn one everyday for over a month in the winter, so I know.

The warmer ones made of polartec are a nightmare and need washing regularly. You also can't breath through them.

But have you decided yet, Lev?

I think I've ruled out the white helmet/green goggles as there's be too much white with the jacket.
As much as I like the yellow goggles, I don't think they'd go with everything else.
I do really like the Schoph goggles, but I like the full helmet more, so I can't have them.

I'll go to Absolute Snow in Milton Keynes and try one on. I'll decide there between black/black, black/chrome and black/green.
The manufacturers prices are
Black/black £220 (£214 at Absolute Snow)
Black/green £230
Black/chrome £240 (£250 at Absolute snow for some reason)
So the chrome one would have to look spectacular up front to justify the extra cash.
There is 15% off if I order direct from the manufacturer this week, however my head size is right at the upper limit of what they say the M/L helmet will fit, so I'm not spending that kind of money without trying one on first.

I've taken a risk. They had a 20% discount (deal runs out in an hour).
I've bought the black/chrome for £200 inc shipping.
If it's the wrong size I'll have to send it back.

Just looked at the poll results. Seems I've gone against the popular vote. Never mind.

It's what my mate Steve refuses to wear, and what the rest of us mock him for.
I gave myself concussion when I went to Whistler, and that was with a helmet on.

There was a guy on the skiing holiday with me last December.

He crashed because one of the slope staff want paying attention when riding up the slope on a snowmobile.

Anyway, he would have died if he didn't have his helmet on.

To not wear one is just reckless and a bit daft. IMHO

Indeed. But perhaps forego putting a GoPro on yours.
