Will Smith Turns Down ‘Independence Day’ Sequel!

http://schmoesknow.com/will-smith-turns ... ay-sequel/

One of the most overrated films ever IMO and we've been paying for it ever since with Roland's output

The internet says it's average, so there :P  ;)

It falls into the same box as Jurassic Park for me, just an over-hyped special effects movie with far too many characters for you to really care about any of them. And I was a little more than a kid when those films came out.

Nowt wrong with Jurassic Park, in fact the thing about "The Summer Blockbuster" as it has become known as, is the fact that they used to be very good. Jurassic Park was fantastic, with some of the most iconic, memorable scenes in history and perhaps the greatest musical score of any film.

Independence Day is funny, enjoyable, great one-liners (and some self-consciously cheesy ones) with special effects which hold up to this day (case in point, look how badly The Fellowship of the Ring's CGI blue screens have aged over the years, whereas it still looks like they blew up The White House in ID4.)

Their rep has been tarnished by The Day After Tomorrow, Superman: Man in Tights, and other woeful [LIFTED] like that, but there's no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
