However, the most important significant change is the high definition five inch LCD display, which replaces the original Vita's OLED screen.

A number of comparison videos published on YouTube when the slimline Vita was released in Japan appeared to show that the OLED screen produced a slightly better picture than the LCD one.

I suspect that it is considerably cheaper to build.

I have to say, the screen on the Vita is really rather nice. One thing that has gone from the Vita slim is the mysterious data port.

New screen is apparently worse indoors but better outdoors. And while going from proprietary to Micro-USB is a good thing over all, it means the slim won't fit in the Vita dock, so I presume they'll either re-issue or withdraw it. So get one while you can.

Lol at the pathetic charging cable (I'm assuming that's what that is), but at least you could charge it while playing a little easier now (watch the vid). Maybe it's just the pics but the pads look enormous and they never last, I've had to buy velour ones rather than continually replace 'em.

Not convinced by the buttons; the physical slider on my set's great now that so many shows have crap sound mixes and what have you.

I like the folding-up idea. You'll certainly look less of a knob with this design than the original set too. It's hard to tell, but is it just me or does the headband bit look more like foam rather than pleather-covered foam?

Not seen the video. Looks pretty much the same as the current design for PS3. The folding thing never bothered me and seems to make it more fragile. Charging whilst in use - i've always done this withthe current headset - buy a usb extension cable from amazon basics and then plug into PS3. Charges and you can still use it at the same time.

My rubber pads are still fine so not sure why yours were so problematic. Also agree that sliders are better than buttons - silent in operation and you can quickly turn the vol right down if someone wants to chat in real life.

The charging port is on the end of the support instead of dangling behind your ear (not ideal in my room). The pads, and indeed the headrest bit, wore away on mine cos I use them nearly every day. Even right now I can hear my gobsh1te father...

I'm wondering what the hell you're doing to your headphones that's trashing them. Are your ears chock full of piercings or something? Or are you storing them on a sandpaper block?

His ears are made of sandpaper. It is usually a matter of time and excessive use that destroys my ear pads. I think ernie must be using them a lot. Though with the gripes about his family I suspect not enough.

Like I said, it's cheap pleather and I use them nearly every day. You only have to read reviews of more expensive sets to realise the pads rarely last long.

Well that would explain it. I do find that they are never long lasting especially if they are pleather.
