Considering they fcuked up Clark's fundamentals last time, what are the chances of him getting a personality now I wonder.

I'm guessing you are referring to the changes that were made to Kal-El's origin story?
They didn't [LIFTED] it up, they purposfully altered it.

I'd read about the casting announcement elsewhere, and whilst others here are wanting to pronounce the next Supes film as 'sucky' (you know who you are!) I really think the success of Avengers Assemble can't be too overstated here, for the time being anyway.
DC has some way to go to catch-up to Marvel in terms of film successes, I can't possibly believe that they will want to drop the ball now on the back of the Batman and Man of Steel successes.

I was actually talking about his 'Earth parents' - they had next to no impact whatsoever, and they are/should be his bedrock no matter what version you're telling. They hadn't a clue what to do with Pa Kent in particular. I nearly laughed at the you know what bit.

It wasn't helped by Kal-el barely uttering a word that would have endeared him to the audience. I've no problem with any take on the character whether film or comic, but if you're gonna use parts of what's worked before don't waste them, especially with a long running time.

I'd like nothing more for a film that set up not just a new Batman but all of them. The problem is MoS was more PoS in my view. I can't give a crap about CGI if I don't care about the characters in those scenes.

Completely agree that (at least for me) Supes' background is about an alien learning to be human and about humanity. I loved the Smallville series for this - they really showed the positive effects of parenthood on a young Clark. Their inclusion was cursory in MoS.

Smallville ran for 10 years, I can see why they (the film-makers) didn't want to carbon-copy what one show took that amount of time to do in one film.
Each new set of Batman films has re-explored Bruce's past, I don't expect the new Superman films to not explore what it means for Kal-El to be Clark Kent and vice-versa.

We got some of Clark's backstory in Man of Steel and I expect we'll get more - if not in the next film then certainly the one after that.

Quite. Up until now they've very much billed it as the final part of a loose trilogy.

Unless Sam Mendes, the producers or the writers come out and say it, frankly I wouldn't pay much mind.

Never saw much of Chronicles and wasn't that impressed by what I did catch. Cancelled 'early' too. I'm all for rebooting the series since it's not like you can really sully the first two any further...

The Sarah Connor Chronicles was really very good.
There does seem to be a cohesive plan for the next installments for the franchise, which is good to see, it'll also be good to see if what they have planned succeeds.
If they are wanting to go a whole new route with the films then it makes sense to do the same with the TV show.
