The creative well is running dry.

Yeah there aren't any brilliant books that could be made in to films and I guess the comic world has dried up too <sarcasm>

It's twitchy investors. They'd rather not plough a pile of cash in to something that could be a risk when they can get an easy return on a sequel or remake.
If people stopped watching that crap then they'd have to make new films

Well it's not me watching.

I did a list on IMDB of 13 of my fave horror films the other day. 80% of them had been remade and I haven't seen any of them.

Can you link to this list? It would be interesting to see.

I'm considering watching the Evil Dead remake at the moment.

The list In no particular order as it's my first list and I haven't worked out how to rearrange it yet lol

Because the original is one of my top 5 horror movies. Yes the low budget gets in the way, but when the 'Video Nasties' bill was passed in the 80's, Evil Dead was the one with the heaviest reputation (and most prosecutions) so that was a must-see. And it was one of very few 'Video Nasties' that wasn't disappointing.

And The Thing!
I only saw the top entry as I had to go and have my tea but couldn't do that without first commenting about it being a remake.
It amused tremendously. (8+)

Well I haven't seen the 1956 film and I assume technology had changed quite a bit since then

Yes. It's generally considered to be a remake of The Thing From Another World. Which, if I'm honest, I actually prefer to the Carpenter film.

I agree, the original is better but the 1st remake is pretty competent.

Guillermo del Toro gives an update on the status of PACIFIC RIM 2!!

The original was just 'meh' for me, and it's probably worse on a smaller screen.
