I used my first Mac in 1984, regularly used on from '87 through to 90. Then bought my first iMac in 2006.

The first Mac I ordered (rather than inherited, which was an original all-in-one) was in 1992/93 - an LC II bought with my student grant.

The first apple I used was an apple 2 and I reckon it was around 1982 ( could be a year or 2 out on that though ). It was the last one as well

Yeh-but-no-but-yeh-but... Those were pre-Mac days, when Apple made the most popular home computer on the planet. It's what made their bazillions, and let them play with stuff like graphical user interfaces and so on while the rest of the computer world was still working in FORTRAN and BASIC.

I had an Apple IIe at about the same time. Paid £25 for it, kept it for 6 months then sold it for around £250 Bargain!

Blimey, that's quite a return on your investment. And people say Apple kit doesn't keep its resale value.

My first Mac was 630 DOS compatible. Yes, it could run Windows 3.11, thanks to a 486 on a daughter card with it's own discrete RAM. I could run both Windows and System 7 at the same time, use shared areas on the HD to share files between the system. There was a keypress to switch between environments. It also had a TV card in it. I used to record TV to the HD, and then cut it up in QuickTime. It came with a remote. It was awesome. I think it must have been around 1993-94, something like that. It cost about £1500, IIRC. Macs that can run Windows? Old news.

I used to program the Mac in BASIC and FORTRAN! I used to repair and refurbish Apple IIs, along with a variety of CP/M kit (including Apple IIs with Z80 daughter cards) when I was at school as a weekend job.

The microbiology department at work still has a bit of kit that is allegedly controlled using an Apple II. They swear it still works, though I've never seen it in action. It's for counting some sort of plate (that they grow bugs on) IIRC.
Anyway, if we are being all nostalgic and things, my first mac was actually a Umax Apus back when there were mac clones. It was a bit temperamental as it didn't always boot first time. Ended up returning it. Undeterred I eventually saved up for a beige PowerMac G3/233 desktop machine which did sterling service for 8 years until it was replaced with my current PowerMac G5 dual core machine (on which I'm typing this). The first mac I used was a secondary school where we used Mac Plus machines. They even had one with a 20MB hard disk (which was the same footprint as the mac).
Has the OP managed to book from his CD yet? You can also try opening system preferences and selecting the StartUp Disk prefs pane. The CD you are trying to boot from should be selectable in there. In never ran 10.3.9 so I'm not sure if that's exactly right.

I was late to the Mac scene. My first machine was the Bondi Blue iMac.

I was 100% Psion. For my needs a pocket computer made much more sense than a desktop at the time. So I had a rather extensive Psion set up with floppy discs, SSDs and IR Printer. It handled all of my spreadsheets (Lotus), word processing and calendar functions. In some ways with the iPhone I have gone back to those halcyon days.
