When repairing my car I tried to solder some wire. It worked but the end result was seriously messy. In the end I stripped it off and used these bad boys with a heat gun. Hands down the best way to join a wire I've ever come across http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/926/category/9

I have a set of those from about 1985 when my dad picked them up at a trade show. Fabulous things, and perfect for a car.

Not so good for din plugs though

Tried to vinyl wrap the front grille on the car. Whilst it was fine on the main bit, it proved too difficult on the curved corners. Abandoned that project. Gonna have to polish out the current grille (I have three grilles for the front of the car).

There's no way to say this without coming across as a twat but there is a naming trend among certain classes. When I look at my sisters age group who are a) working class (although 'working' is a stretch!) and b) had kids quite young, you can't help but notice the retarded and 'fashionable' names (whoever is the most popular popstar, footballer, celebrity child name, etc that day) they give their kids.

But to go on national TV and openly state you would judge these kids based on their parents choice of names is shocking. She's also blind to the fact she's a complete [LIFTED] hypocrite after called her kid India yet hates geographical names.

You don't seem very kind to your sister. Is being working class bad? My mum was from a very impoverished background, with my grandfather being a day labourer in a cloth mill and she went on to study law and become head librarian in a city library. It infuriates me when my father, from a significantly wealthier background, takes the piss at her and says he "saved her from her roots". His family are the most prejudiced bores you can ever meet.

No. I was pointing out they were working class, not inferring it's a bad thing. I come from a working class background and depending on how these things are determined still might be.

Just fielded a phone call for my wife. It was following up on a seminar she had been to at her school a few weeks back. Here’s the logic fail:

a) My wife is a teacher. Oddly, today is a school day and she’s at work.

b) The outfit who called are involved in the education sector. They have her details (I was told they might ring), know what school she works at etc..

So, of course, the best, most logical thing to do is to phone her at home during the week in term time at 11:30am.

As the call was expected (though I think it was expected outside of normal office hours), I was told not to be rude to them (I am brusque to cold callers as they are just wasting time). Normally, I would have pointed out the futility of their actions given points (a) and (b) above. I did tell them that she’s unlikely to be back home before 6pm on a work day. I didn’t ask them to think carefully about the time they were calling and whether she was likely to be in during term time on a school day (that, I am guessing, would be the rude bit).

So I have a message to pass on.

My back to back on the rig has failed.
The rig equipment has failed
I arrived on Monday to find the KCl polymer mud looking like a high viscosity bentonite sweep.
He never bothered putting fine mesh screens on the shakers and the rigs mixing system keeps blocking every few minutes.
It's been a nightmarish last few days. Already my second worst ever trip offshore in thirteen years.
I can't wait to get to the next section when we'll be using oil based mud. Soooooo much less hassle.

It's hot. I remembered I have an ice lolly mould, which I retrieved from the back of the cupboard. Excellent.

I then rediscovered why I hadn't used it for ever. It doesn't fit in the freezer or ice box :?
