General thoughts...

'Jesus, I dunno if I like this tattoo... I'll get more and convince myself.'

I totally understand why you might want one, but my big dumb man view is that it's like leaving your Bently in at the local garage

I've never seen a tattoo on a woman that I thought made her look better, and I do like my imagery.

It's gonna look TERRIBLE when you're older.

Nanotech might somehow render all the problems irrelevant in the distant future

I think you're missing the point though. People don't get tattoos to look more attractive, they get them because they enjoy them.
Would you also say "oh I don't know why she dyes her hair, she'd look better otherwise"
"oh why does she wear this, she'd look much better wearing XXXX" ?

Why do they enjoy them? Do they enjoy having them done, which to me seems rather masochistic. Or do they enjoy them being seen, in which case at some subconscious level it probably is because it makes them feel more attractive.

It's people's choice what they do with/to their own bodies provided nobody else is hurt but it seems to me a bit nonsensical to claim that what is obviously a form of personal decoration is not done to make an impression on other people.

^^That's what I meant, I get all that (you should see my t-shirt collection lmao), but when I weigh all of it up I can't say I'm in favour of them in ANY way. And that's unusual for me, I like all sorts of jewellry and piercings on a woman without it going mental, different hair-dos, whatever.

Hair make up jewellery are all temporary and can be changed. A tattoo is a lot more permanent. I do not care about hair colour, as many women dye it anyway.

Went to Castle Combe yesterday. Here's a picture of a red head in (what I believe to be) a Bristol.

Damnit! There's a pun in there, I know there is, but I just can't find it.

Are you really suggesting that people don't look at such things and comment?

It's practically all the gossip magazines talk about, and it's usually the first thing someone says when watching a TV program:

"Ooh doesn't her hair look nice like that? Not sure about the frock though. Lovely skin. Too much make-up though, why do people do their eyes like that? It's really not attractive. How can she walk in those shoes?"

I'm not saying they don't. I'm saying that their opinion shouldn't matter.

I could say 'You know nothing John Vella' but I"m not sure you'd get the joke :).

OK, top one is an I think Czech actress who did a rather astonishing scene in a pool hall once. It's back in the thread somewhere. Twice, I think.

The middle two are Sky News/Sports presenter Sarah Jane Mee (on the left) and Game Of Thrones actress Rose Leslie. I believe that's something to do with the fact it was recently National Redhead day, or some such.

And the bottom one is Ruth Wilson, who plays the eponymous lead character's psychotic mass-murdering love interest (well, ish) in Luther, which starts again on Tuesday and is brilliant.

That's a kind of idealism that is anathema to society. It only really works for hermits.

I refer you to the sermon I gave in reply to your similar comment in another thread.

I don't need your sermons, thank you very much. If you can't believe that some tattooed people don't give a [LIFTED] of your opinion, fair to you.
