But IIRC the default installation of iTunes will ask you if you want to import any Audio CD you put into the computer.

How much easier does it need to be?

I was thinking along the same lines, then recalled that some laptop manufactures make machines that don't have built-in optical drives. (8+)

Also why would people go anywhere near a PC let alone one with an optical drive these days? Get with the times grandpas, this is so you can listen to choons on the train or at school.

Yes but they can also be used to burn back ups.

You're assuming most people's first (and possibly last) experience of iTunes on a Windows PC didn't involve something approaching an emotional breakdown. I still get people asking me today if I'll copy some of their CDs into it. I always tell them no  , and I can almost guarantee they'll have some sort of syncing issue after all that time's been spent. IME that's been true of the technically minded and the people who think PCs use magic.

Is it still a royal pain in that sense?

Why is iTunes so bad on a Windows box?

Is it Apple's revenge for Office for the Mac being a steaming pile of [LIFTED]?

It's a distinct possibility.

I have to say I don't understand all the bad press iTunes gets. I installed it on my PC when I bought my iPhone 3G on day of launch and have used it ever since without real issue. It did "lose" some of the tracks when I moved it's library to a different hard drive, but that was really easy to solve, just point the software to the correct location and it updated everything. Any other issues have been my fault, not that of the software.

Maybe I'm lucky, although that would be different :D

It even manages to break Outlook, due to QT somehow shafting something important. That's on Windows 7 and it's happened on two different PCs used by the only iPhone user at work.

Again I have Outlook 365 on a Windows 7 PC and haven't experienced issues. I accept that I appear to be in a minority of one as everyone else seems to have at least 1 horror story on how it breaks something, that just isn't my experience.

Everyone I know who's had an iPod and Windows iTunes has had series issues syncing at one point or another.
I used to use it without any issues, but I never had an i device to plug in.

Does this service allow you to put the music files in to iTunes, or do you have to user some sort of Amazon player?
