Agreed, it would be hard to do since they wiped out all of the aliens last time so who would be invading? Stupid idea, though if they based the story on the captured alien technology and what humans do with it against each other that would be more credible. He is still a big star even if he has not had a hit in a while. If he signs on to a project they could probably get funding reasonably easily. Yes but many films get big stars to sign on because of the story or they have higher odds of an Oscar. Bagger Vance was a story that might have resonated with him. Look at the number of actress that take on roles out of their normal range because awards are more likely. The problem I have with this Project is why call it a Wild Bunch remake when it is set at a later date and involves government agents rather than cowboys?
