Well that is why I do not play multiplayer games, getting whipped by some teenager is not my idea of fun.

I've noticed that from my COunterStrike days, they always tend to play a bit more cheesily, they have no sense of honour, the amount of campers and sniper spammers tends to increase on weekend days. But they will always be weaker than you because they don't know how to play as a team, you will wear them down, they will never be on the top of the stats. Never.

When we had a proper clan with headsets, we were pretty much unbeatable against teens. In fact, the only people who beat us were hardcore clans, usually from Germany.

And that is because Counter Strike over here is a little faster. It is against the law for such games to show blood, so the "dead" just vanish, so it doesn't clog up the graphics processing as much.

No we just swear at the enemy, be it in french, german or italy. Scandinavians and italians seem to camp.

Each to their own. Multiplayer games like that simply do not appeal to me. Though I can see their merits. Teamwork and fast moving strategy does make a difference. Though as someone who cannot find their way out of mazes on Halo I do not think that I would be great at such games anyway. I prefer games like Civilisation.

Civ 4 is a masterpiece, if it wasn't for those effing barbarians.

Just playing civ 5 with raging barbarians, using them to raise gold, getting bonus for rescuing city states. Personally some versions are better than others. I loved the ability to customise Civ 2. I created my own combat engineers who could para drop. Very handy for upgrading islands resources. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.

I got all of them in a boxset, to be honest CIV 5 is not as playable or enjoyable as the other versions. Civ 4 is probably the best of the series. I need to try and finish Rocksmith at some point, maybe take week of work

Fired up the workbench this morning and I think my budget temperature-controlled soldering iron has croaked.

If you're lucky, it might just be a thermal fuse which are just a few pennies. The elements are often replaceable, even in cheaper brands like Antex. There's actually quite a lot that could go wrong though, so guessing is pointless without disassembling and testing all the parts. I'd offer to take a look, but postage or travelling would cost more than it's worth and there's no guarantee of a fix. Do you know a local person who's handy with that type of thing? If it's mega-urgent, Maplin actually do a same-day delivery so you could have a new one in a couple of hours... at a price.

Funnily enough, I was going to post in the Tales of Win thread: Maplin stock replacement irons, tips and elements. For the princely sum of thirteen of your English pounds, I have a new element and iron heading this way. I was most surprised. It seems Maplin have listened to their customers, who must have been objecting to shelling out £50 a time for a whole new soldering station when their old one goes pop, purely because new parts and bits were incompatible. It now appears replacement parts are compatible across the range, and they even sell the same units we bought nearly a decade ago. Meanwhile, the backup unit has been deployed, and will probably remain in use even when we've repaired the poorly one.

They've been doing it ever since I first bought from them in the early 80s Good to know you had a backup too!

I have all of them as well, though bought them as they were released. Though now as a mac user I only have 4 and 5 to play regularly.
