Longer term I think that we might transition away from a TV in every room to only one in the living room and the ability to stream to iPads in the bedrooms.
I've only ever had the one TV.
I've never had a TV in the bedroom, or the kitchen, only ever had one in the living room.
I just don't get multiple TVs around the house.

Mark

If you are on your own I can understand that. Though when I was living with my parents many years ago we had one in the living room and kitchen and one on the parents bedroom. With four of us we would invariably want to watch something different.

Nope not giving up my TVs. Laptop is good when travelling as well as the iPad and I also use the iPad if I'm doing housework and want to watch something. Also use the TVs for radio at the weekends.

Other than the year we lived in a rented house that had no way of getting a TV signal (no aerial or cable), no I can't see myself ever ditching a TV.
Maybe I'll switch on TV via the internet, but I'll still watch it on a TV in my living room.

Haven't owned one in 9 years. Sometimes I enjoy the experience at a friend's house, but I know if I got another I'd probably end up watching it all of the time.

I sometimes look at the latest offerings in electrical shops. I think that the action looks really blocky.

Not the same as real 3D. The resolution of real things is so much better almost 8k in quality.

That depends how you define TV.

By the BBC's definition of TV, unless its changed then you need a licence to watch real-time broadcasts, whether delivered by Internet or Satellite or cable or whatever. I really don't care if I watch something 10 minutes later than live. There's no such thing as live anyway - most digital streams are actually several seconds behind. I find the distinction arbitrary and a little perverse. I don't need a licence to watch Doctor Who on my 42" screen via BBC iPlayer, but I do need a licence to watch a Ukrainian live stream of Eurovision?

By my definition of TV, that's a big box for shared viewing. As long as I have a front room and visitors to share it with, then yes - I'll keep it. Mostly for watching YouTube and downloaded video content, but as I asked - What is TV anyway?

I use my TV just as a panel.

It's fed by the HTPC (which does live TV, catchup, movie library etc), the apple TV (for screen mirroring) and occasionally the cable box (when the parents are babysitting as it's easier).

I'll always need a big screen in the front room. It just doesn't need to have a tuner or any intelligence built in.

We haven't had a tv for at least 6 years. We watch Doctor Who on the internet and have a computer in the living room for the odd occasions we watch movies and the like. Mostly though we're both too busy and there's entirely too much rubbish on tv to change our minds.

By my definition, you do have a TV. It's a fairly big screen in the front room and I watched Doctor Who on it.

So what do you make of Smart TV's then? My TV has a Freeview HD tuner built in but that is it. Any fancy internet stuff is dealt with through an Apple TV, with no need for an internet enabled or Smart TV.

It's definitely a computer though, doesn't have an aerial, doesn't receive a tv signal so it's not a tv. We are lucky enough to only watch the things we want, when we want and not be buried by any amount of random sh!t.

Meh.
I could give it up and live off on demand online services.
I think the longest time I spend in front of the TV is watching Neighbours (don't judge me).
Now, a good display panel is another thing... but through-the-air TV reception? Don't need it.

Erm, not ditching TV, because Planet Earth, Masterchef, some football games.

But ditching 'A' TV, oh yes, I haven't owned one since I left for uni in 2003, I probably will never buy one.
