Why is it you can buy thermometers for ouside your house that have deg C and deg F on them , but you can't buy ones with deg C and deg K on them?
Come on manufactuers, move with the times. Only old people use deg F on dry land these days.

And Americans.
I'f you are buying from an international distributor (or indeed the item is made by an American company) that's likely the reason.

Random blog on the worlds largest computer: https://scottlocklin.wordpress.com/2013 ... ver-built/

More info: http://www.f-106deltadart.com/sage_system.htm

Pretty cool. Like 386s build largely from valves inside a network of 27 Borg cubes, in the 1950s.

Quote:
Each of the 27 computers that made up the system was a dual core 32 bit CPU made of 60,000 vacuum tubes 175,000 diodes, and 12,000 of those newfangled transistors. Memory: 256k of magnetic core RAM (invented for this project) clocking in every 6 microseconds. These things weighed 300 tons, consumed 3 megawatts of electrical power and ran a blistering 75,000 operations per second.

They directed military drones in real time to their targets. In the 1950s.
