The Comic Shack podcast 27 - Joker at the front door. This episode gives an overview of Batman Graphic Novels for those wanting to get onboard with the character. There are plenty of suggestions and reviews and there aren't any spoilers. The last 10 minutes or so of the podcast do have a spoiler warning - repeated several times - when they discuss recent happenings in the Batman continuity.

Here's a link to the podcast for anyone interested: Episode 27 - Joker at the front door.

Here's a link to the list of recommendations only.

I really want to listen to this but no idea if it'll ruin the planned reading list I posted here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18022&p=277974&hilit=Halloween#p277974

Could anyone check if it's okay for me to listen to? It may even have other useful GNs to read.

Not fussed about the recent grant morrison cockup now that I'm aware of it though imagine it was a killer cockup for anyone into the storyline.

They don't really say much about the order you need to read them in. They sometimes relate things to Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns but apart from that I don't get the impression that it matters too much about the sequence as they are presented as self-contained stories and a couple of them are "Best Ofs...". I've never read the Batman comics but I've read a few of the Graphic Novels mentioned and not really had any problems with continuity. The list (and podcast) comprises of 20 or so GN's they recommend to help readers get into Batman....they aren't doling out bad reviews as such and they are not out to spoil anything. I found it well worth listening to and it's a podcast I subscribe to via iTunes.

The one I'd recommend is Batman: Year One (Frank Miller) - Which they label as ESSENTIAL.

I do not think that is pcernie. I think his preference is for the Dark Knight suit, not the TV version. ;)

Also our pcernie would have cans of coke on his utility belt.

Another Batmobile. This time it’s Detective Comics #500

The next one looks like a good ’un. I hope Smiths still carry it.

Nolan will [LIFTED] it up, if it's on the level.
