I kissed a girl, and we liked it.
Her boyfriend's probably not so keen.

She made the first move. I was merely an innocent, drunken, bystander!

Next door, for about 2 years now, have been creating loud banging noises, as if they've been putting shelves up for 24 months every day. So I've turned my subwoofer on. 8-) I'm now playing Jermaine Stewart's classic "We Don't Have to Take our Clothes Off" because nothing does bass like 80s bass.

Update: my ear's are bleeding and they appear to have stopped.

he does have a point though. There are far too many people within the NHS that seem to treat patients as an inconvenience.

Why does Ch5 not do an HD version of the channel?

I wondered that and they do, but it's only available on sky. Apparently they don't want to pay the fee for freeview/freesat. That's why there's a bbc hd that shows bugger all, apparently they've been given the spare slot that nobody else wants to pay for.

It's slightly more complicated than that.

BBC HD was originally a test channel, because legislation restricts the BBC from competing with commercial channels using it's funding model to finance new, loss leading technologies. It was in effect a proof of concept, that a HD channel would work. It was actually supposed to be switched off ages ago. Luckily, the commercial channels went HD and thus the BBC was able to keep hold of it while launching BBC One HD because it wasn't 'cheating' once someone else was doing it. The strategy is to eventually turn BBC HD into BBC 2 HD when enough of BBC 2's content is available in HD (the BBC is required to have a minimum percentage of content on it's channels as 'real HD, rather than upscaled SD).

Channel 5 HD exists on Sky only essentially because Channel 5 'chickened out'. They launched Channel 5 HD on Sky with the intention of doing a followup launch on Virgin and eventually the 'free twins'. However they found that being in HD didn't actually get them any more viewers or advertising revenue, so they basically gave up. They have an agreed contract to run Channel 5 HD for a while yet but very little of the content is actually HD, because Channel 5 won't pay for anything that costs very much in HD, either to licence or make. I suspect when the contract to produce it runs out, they'll quietly kill it and very few people will care.

I never knew before just how entertaining it can be reading the reviews of sex dolls on the internet. I have just laughed myself into a dose of hysterics, complete with tears and now a headache, my stomach hurts and I feel physically weak!

Thanks for filling in the gaps. One thing I'm surprised about is that it seems not everything is filmed in hd these days. It's a fair old while since its invention and it's clearly where everything is going, I can't imagine the equipment is that prohibitive, so why isn't it the default now? I must be one of the few whose main telly is still sd, but that's partly because it's such a great telly and there's still a lack of hd content.

My kitchen, bedroom and study tellies are all hd though, and they're tellies I don't care about, they're just the best value that were about at the time. I'd be surprised if you could even buy an sd telly anymore.

I will say though, that there is no benefit to hd until you're over 30" at the very least and it doesn't really shine until 46".

I've a 42” 720 capable telly and the difference between standard def and high def is noticeable enough for me to want all stations to broadcast in high def these days.

You're absolutely right, with the right equipment, the difference is staggering. I have a 26" hd and a 30" hd and I can't tell the difference unless I'm a foot away, which let's face it is not practical to watch! At the distance I watch telly, my sd 28" Sony wega is the best picture for most of the content I have available to me. A sad state of affairs I feel given the length of time hd has been a realistic proposition.

Given the fact I can't stand to get rid of perfectly functioning devices, I'm kind of glad of the current situation though as it would break my heart to get rid of my current main TV.

I suppose that because the BBC are funding the switchover though I cannot see why 5 could not have been offered the channel at a lower fee rather than the BBC dominating the HD lineup. Though most of the stuff on ITV 3 and 4 does not need to in HD anyway.

Then maybe you'll stop the self indulgent photos of your preening and posing in cod cheesecake 50s style in front of your camera. We all know you're pregnant and yes, we're very pleased for you. But please, give it a rest.
