You know what I loved about the Biblical films? I always felt that everything was done well and that no expense was spared.

Historical accuracy?

Unless it was a documentary, I don't believe any commercial film has "historical accuracy" at its heart.

I think that you are wrong. While some leeway is allowed for defamation. In films like Battle of the Bulge they used a 50's spotter plane for Henry Fonda to find the Germans, and they had to use American tanks to substitute for Tigers because they are rarer than rocking horse poo. There are slight changes to amalgamate a number of characters into one for brevity and so not to alienate those excluded. For example the Battle of Britain there were no squadrons that used the call sign Rabbit, but they used it rather than offend those that they missed out. Same with the Squadron numbers.

Alex, are you going to see the film when it's released in cinemas?

I have to say Kazuchika's work is looking rather dated in that MAD, mostly had clips from over 10 years ago. I swear there's a scene from Angelic Layer in there (3:50), and he's not credited on that as far as I can tell.

Curious that GitS Innocence is nearly as old, but looks so much newer and more vibrant, so I guess we'll have to see what they pull out the hat. He'll have a decent budget to work with, rather more than his Tokyo TV kid's shows!
