3D can fcuk right off.

I was of the same opinion when at the cinema. Recently I was in Currys and saw a 46" 3D TV with active shuttering and it was so much better than the cinema experience. It takes me far too long to adjust to the red-green specs, yet the active shuttering specs worked brilliantly and instantly. That experience so changed my attitude in the home. Still would not bother in the cinema. It looks like another way to fleece the customer with higher ticket prices.

The big screen only works for me if it's a big film well executed (recent comic book films for example), so I really wouldn't wanna pay much more.

Yes but like me you are a skinflint. 8-)

red-green specs

I didn't think anyone used those in the last 30 years, except on the cover of magazines for cheap tricks!

The cinema ones are usually polarized I thought. That should give just as good an experience as active shuttering, if not better. Certainly my recent Pixar experience used polaroid and it worked fine for me.

I have active shuttering specs for the PC - unfortunately the card needs an AGP slot

Man, I've kept out of this thread until I'd seen the film (just got back) in case I encountered any spoilers or discussion about the film.

Turns out I could have read pretty much all of it without issue.

I thought the film was very good indeed, a vast improvement on the diabolical waste of space that was QoS. New Q looks very promising, as does Fiennes.

I'm considering asking the family to club together to buy me the Bond Collection for Christmas. I understand the box that comes in has a space set aside for the Skyfall DVD already...

They'd make a killing if they managed to get it in the shops around say December 12th. They aren't going to though, the cinemas would whinge.

Its about £99 IIRC. I was discussing it with my cousin. The big problem for me is that it is a live series, so there will be more box sets. It is like buying the Harry Potter box set without the last film.

Never felt that struggling through an earlier Bond film was worth it. Nice music occasionally, but the dated effects mean that all suspense is now gone, and the villains are as camp as a Glee Carry On Special.

This is true for the later 'old' Bonds but a couple of them (Dr. No and From Russia With Love) are actually much less so. OK, Dr No is Fu Manchu with metal hands but it's fantastic rather than camp at that point. No and FRWL are actually largely 'straight' spy movies beyond some fairly odd backstory moments. Yes they aren't 'relevant' for today's age but then, frankly, very few films are 'relevant' because they aren't meant to be. Not every film is made in the style of Mike Leigh.

Roger Moore's Bonds though, yeah, not a fan. He was way too old when he took the job, let alone when he left it. And some of the Moore Bonds are just... broken.

James Pond - license to gill.

With the cheat at the beginning where you had to collect the cake, hammer, earth, apple and tap in that order to activate it.

Lol, yes. Played it a lot.

Seeing as our "fickle as f**K" IT system has now taken a dislike to the joke thread, I'll leave this in here...

There is a new alternative to Viagra, called the 007 pill.

It doesn't make you James Bond, but it does make you Roger Moore. ;)

Saw it this evening.

Too long, predictable and boring. :(

SPOILER ALERT

Still haven't seen this yet, but I was talking to my mum about it earlier.

Mum: "Have you seen the new James Bond yet?"

Me: "No, but I was planning on seeing it soon."

Mum: "Oh you must! M dies!"
