I think in the West end it is above £20 now. The last film I saw there was close and that was some years ago.

Odeon website suggests £22 in Leicester Square. Christ!

That's more than twice the average price in Cardiff (£8, though the IMAX price is £21).

At that price why go to the cinema why not wait till it comes out on BluRay for £15. You will still see it at high definition and save money as well as having a disc for future viewings. Then if you normally take a family think of how much more you would save. Quite frankly I think that cinemas are starting to price themselves out of the market.

Still did not stop it from having its best opening weekend ever.

I could see it before 5pm for £7.40. There used to be a morning deal at Cineworld but they're changed it to weekdays only (rip off)

I used to regularly go to the local Cineworld and then it was only around £3 weekdays before 4pm. It was only slightly more than renting a DVD. Though now it makes much more sense to get a Netflix or Lovefilm subscription than go to the cinema.

Is there anyone else on this forum that won't moan about cinema prices? Or is it just me?

Coz if it is, I'm gonna stay out of these threads in future. Every time a film comes out that a few of us wanna see - (one sided, but well populated) debate rages.

FYI I wasnt moaning just stating a fact. £7 doesn't seem to steep to me.

I'm not moaning, was just surprised how cheap cinema can be. £14pcm for all-you-can-see at the local Cineworld works for when there's a number of films on that we want to see.

At what price point do you moan? This does come up every single time the cinema is discussed and I'm interested to know what the problem is. Compared to eating out, theatre, drinking, shopping or just about any other town centre based activity I can think of, the cinema is a bargain. No?

Depends if you add on the extras like popcorn, drinks, hot dogs or nachos. I think then it can get very expensive as the food and drink prices are extorionate if you ask me.

I go to cinema once every few years so it's a rare treat for me therefore not expensive. I wouldn't pay the £22 West End prices.

The cinema passes are excellent value if you live close to one, and can really abuse it. In that case cinema can be very good value.

I've only got a 20" TV at home so love watching films on a huge ass screen. Hence no issues with going to the cinema. They do rinse it on food but TBH I love my nachos, popcorn, drink and M&Ms. For me, choosing a cinema is dictated by things like comfort, food etc. Hence I've been going to AMC in preference to say cineworld. Tend not to go to the odeon (too cramped). No local Vue.

As mentioned before, I only really go to the blockbusters, and I'm happy to say I can see them for around £6. 3D can fcuk right off.

I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay since I don't go that often. And even when I do there's been many a time where I wanted to walk out.

The big screen only works for me if it's a big film well executed (recent comic book films for example), so I really wouldn't wanna pay much more.

Yeah. I hate eating fancy-schmancy food in restaurants because I could make food at home for less.
