I vote for bst, I like it. I think we should stick with it. I don't understand why we keep flirting with it and then letting it go.
I'm also confused as to where gmt came from. Who decided it? It's clearly an hour behind any sensible time. If I thought time was up for debate it would be between cet and bst; gmt wouldn't get a look in.

I like the way it is now. Mainly because I don't like change.

We should keep it GMT in that case. It would be nicer if the clocks were all automatically moved forwards or backwards each day by a few mins or seconds so there was no junping around.

If Scotland gets independence there'll be no reason for the rest of the UK not to have BST all year round.

Fine. If that happens, I emigrate north. My vote goes for keeping UTC as the time zone all year round. It lives here, after all, on the Greenwich meridian. We've had this debate before, and I always say if you want more daylight just get up earlier.

I think I must just not be so sensitive to the time changes. I know lots of people who's sleep patterns are completely messed up for weeks after a clock change, but it just doesn't affect me. I'm ok with the changing but mostly because so much of my non-work life is dependant on daylight. I hate the dark mornings as a sign of winter coming in so when the clocks go back I get lighter mornings for a while and the chickens actually come out to say hello in the mornings instead of grumbling away in their beds. Similarly when the days start to lengthen and the clocks go forward the evenings are lighter just as the weather is getting to a place where I can actually get outside to work before dark.

It doesn't really affect me other than I prefer dark mornings and light evenings.

I find that as the sun rises earlier and earlier, I tend to wake up earlier naturally too - usually before the alarm has gone off. If I'm due to be up at 630, I can be awake as early as 0545-0600 during the summer. Obviously during winter, I prefer to stay in but even then I'm usually up around 0730.

That's rubbish daylight though - I'd rather have it both warmer (so afternoons) and later so that I can actually enjoy it after work. Bring on CET.

Yeah, but if we all started work at 4am, you'd still have a nice long afternoon and evening.

Strange how it's easier to move a national time zone rather than moving working hours.

Well no, not really. It's still wrong though as far as I'm concerned.
