I saw a shop yesterday that had full size models of an Alien and Predator, all made from reclaimed metals.

I also drove through The Shire and past Hobbiton. :|

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Customer Service stories. And for a change they're good ones. A bit like the author of the article the Southwest Airlines story almost got me. I must be going soft in my old age.

I decided to start my 5:2 diet today. Based on Eat Fast and Live Longer, it means you reduce your calorific intake to 500kcals for the day, for any two days in the week. You eat normally for the rest of the time. Such a diet can help change blood biochemistry positively. I think it's based on the Newcastle diet of something like 800kcals which helped improve diabetic control.

I had an egg for brekkie, followed by the cereal bar I had planned for lunch. That meant lunch was sugar-free chewing gum (to get rid of the stinky breath) and sugar-free red bull (don't drink tea/coffee and I was flagging by this stage). Spend the afternoon fuzzy headed and tired. I bought cookies in to work today and realised I couldn't have any. :( Just want to eat supper (sensible) and will have to skip dessert.

Once I get used to this, I'll go back to running again (managed 3 miles and then stopped because of exams; gym still taking money).

If I recall the program correctly, part of the regime was that you only eat once a day, not just that it was a low calorie regime. You have to reduce the levels of certain hormones to get the effect and if you keep 'topping up' it doesn't work properly.

^^^I never watched the programme and had to rely on what I'd read. Will double check. I can manage missing lunch or breakfast but I struggle with both these days. I used to skip both meals when I worked in the hospital but I used to eat a feck load when I got home in the evenings.

There are a couple of different variants. The one where you only eat once per day there isn't the calorie restriction, just a focus on unprocessed foods.

Are there any sort of more energy efficient lightbulbs than those halogen type ones?
My kitchen has a light fixture which takes these kinds of bulbs. It takes four of them, but rather than just using only two bulbs in it, I'd like to get more efficient bulbs if they are available.
Anyone any ideas?

Mark
